Job Summary:
Conducts a wide range of quality control tests and analyses to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements. Drafts, revises and approves test plans and scripts to ensure alignment with standards and IT strategy. Creates test data files with valid and invalid records to thoroughly test program logic and verify system flow. Coordinates with users to plan user acceptance testing, alpha and beta testing. Ensures that system tests are successfully completed and documented, and all problems are resolved.

Our core work hours are 10am - 4pm Eastern Time with the option to start earlier or work later depending on your time zone.
The QA engineer will have experience with testing web-based user interfaces (UIs), application program interfaces (APIs), and testing data integrity including testing files and performing database validations. This position will involve creating and executing end-to-end manual test scripts and the creation and maintaining of realistic test data. The candidate will need the ability to understand complex systems and data both from the user perspective and technology perspective and independently investigate problems. Additionally, they will be expected to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the system that they are testing. The ideal candidate is one that is passionate about quality and is looking to work for a company that puts quality first.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the leadership team on a large, complex program involving numerous, integrated software products
Document and maintain detailed test plans and test specifications for functional, smoke and regression testing
Troubleshoot potential defects independently prior to escalating to developers
Ensure the overall quality of all aspects of a complex software system, including data, APIs, and web application
Identify gaps in test approach, strategize on a plan to fill the gaps, and then execute that plan
Practice TDD within the application development team
Participate actively in SCRUM ceremonies and planning meetings
Work with IT Developers to improve automated testing where possible
Create and manage defects through the product life cycle
Generate test reports and traceability metrics
Translate high-level business requirements into test scenarios
Work closely with engineering teams to discuss risk and risk mitigation
Help shape the overall QA process through the application of best practices and new approaches to testing workflows
Basic Requirements:
8+ years of experience in a software testing role and a bachelor’s degree (Computer Science strongly preferred) or a Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years’ experience
Must have resided in the United States 3 of the last 5 years
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Must reside in the US, be authorized to work in the US, and work must be performed in the US
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the healthcare industry
Federal Government contracting work experience
Prior experience working remotely full-time
Web Accessibility (508) experience and experience with the JAWS accessibility tool
JavaScript, C#, or JAVA programming experience
Professional Skills:
Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary
8 years of hands-on experience with different types of testing (Functional, Regression, Smoke, 508/Accessibility, etc.)
Adept at using Functional UI testing using tools such as TestComplete, BrowserStack and/or using frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress etc.
Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Insomnia or Paw
Knowledge of SQL database concepts and experience testing ETLs is preferred
Hands-on experience testing and debugging web-based software including use of in-browser development tools
Solid understanding of Software Configuration Management concepts and methodologies
Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools (JIRA/Confluence)
Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently on a fully remote basis and seek ways to improve overall team quality

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$76,848.00 - $130,642.00
