The purchasing specialist will take direction from the purchasing manager and will work along with other members of the department.
This role requires an energetic, detail-oriented and team player professional who can take direction and work expediently to assure accuracy of all transactions.
ResponsibilitiesPrimary Accountabilities:
This role will be responsible for various aspects of procurement including:
Receive and process purchase requisitions from various departments
Request / review vendor quotes as required
Prepare and place purchase orders with vendors in accordance lead times and operational requirements
Obtain order confirmations to ensure services and/or materials are being scheduled per order requests
Expedite orders to track timely receipt of goods or services
Request and verify BOL/packing slips for order accuracy – other documents, if applicable, such as COA’s, lab results, etc.
Review vendor inventories and update to match within SAP.
New material set-up - initiate and monitor until complete
New vendor set-up – initiate and monitor until complete
Maintain Approved Supplier Program records as well as request subsequent QA related documents
Resolve invoice discrepancies and provide appropriate accounting instructions for cost variance allocations
Prepare return orders for non-compliant products and ensure credits or invoice adjustments are submitted to Accounts Payable
Maintain accurate purchase transaction history through organized purchasing and vendor records, both in SAP and offline, on an ongoing basis.
All work to be executed in compliance with department policies and procedures, which are subject to periodic internal and third-party audits
Review open purchase orders to ensure goods/services are received or purchase orders are cancelled in a timely manner.
This role will also participate in the following purchasing functions:
Research qualified vendors as needed
Vendor evaluation periodically
Supply Organization Projects as participation is requested
Support the Purchasing Manager on operational/administrative tasks as assigned.
Other duties that are reasonable and associated with the above essential functions of the job.

QualificationsExperience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring:
Prior experience in administrative role preferred
Able to work independently or in a team environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Work effectively using good time management skills
Computer literate in Microsoft Office and understanding of SAP
Follow and uphold all company and ethical policies
Willingness to work additional hours as needed

Bachelor’s degree preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time, ability to answer phones and utilize a variety of office equipment
Must be able to climb stairs
Must be able to lift 25 pounds
Requires climbing, standing, stooping, twisting, lifting and other physical movements to perform job
Work Environment:
Office environment in an industrial plant with related noise and temperatures
