We pride ourselves on our cutting-edge digital expertise and portfolio of over 750 world-renowned clients.We are seeking a dynamic Finance Director to lead all aspects of finance and accounting at AZDS and join our forward-looking, entrepreneurial team.Role DescriptionAs a Finance Director, reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for accounting, FP&A and general business management at AZDS. Your time will split 25% to core accounting including sitting in the controller seat overseeing the bookkeeper, completing technical elements of the close and taking ultimate accountability over the numbers; 25% to process improvements such as implementing platforms to improve expense reporting, sales,
time-tracking, etc.; 25% to FP&A including developing and monitoring KPIs, budgeting / forecasting, setting prices and providing strategic financial guidance to the CEO; and 25% to general business management including but not limited to insurance renewals, payroll approvals and contract reviews.A strong background in accounting is required for this role. Additionally, you have worked at a high-growth business and know what is required from an accounting / finance department at a business scaling from $15m to $80m+ annual revenue, and what things need to be done as a company moves up that growth curve. Ideally, you have experience bringing a business through a first year GAAP audit, financial due-diligence and fundraising / exit.You will be supported by a part-time contract bookkeeper who is accountable for tasks such as AR, AP and transaction coding, however, all other accounting and financial responsibilities will fall to you to execute (until the business reaches a scale where you can begin building your team - likely 12-18 months into the role). Accordingly, it is important you are energized to roll up your sleeves and get things done.This role provides excellent opportunities for career growth and upward mobility.Accounting ResponsibilitiesOversee the entire accounting function, including supervision of the fractional accounting personnel, review and approval of A/R, aged A/R follow-up and collection, and A/P approval and payment.Prepare the monthly close including posting accruals, updating and reconciling supporting balance sheet schedules, completing technical elements of the close such as revenue recognition and payroll, and reviewing the outsourced bookkeeper's work on less technical elements of the close.Prepare the monthly financial reporting package (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, actual vs budget, margin by offering analysis, AR aging and time summary) and communicate results and recommendations to the CEO and leadership team.Maintain and monitor short-term cash flow forecast to manage working capital and ensure the company can meet operational needs.Independently research, document and implement technical accounting solutions.Proactively evaluate, implement and lead accounting process improvements so the accounting infrastructure keeps pace with the growing organization.Create and implement basic controls to safeguard assets, ensure accurate financial reporting and promote compliance with laws and regulations.Collaborate with tax CPA and provide information for tax return preparation.Prepare the company for future due diligence and GAAP audit.Financial Planning & Analysis ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the CEO and departmental heads to prepare the annual budget and periodic financial forecast updates.Create and track KPIs (SaaS & Professional Services) for the business and report results & actionable recommendations to the CEO and the leadership team.Oversee company time tracking tools and monitor employee capacity / efficiency metrics. Make actionable recommendations to the CEO and the leadership team.Track project and client profitability, regularly review results with the CEO and leadership team and make actionable recommendations.Track and review pass-through client media revenue and spend and work with the Client Support Team to manage to target profitability.Periodically recalculate bill rates & create a foundation and structure for setting prices and quoting projects.Build financial models and analyses to drive decision making.Make strategic recommendations to the CEO and leadership team on financial matters.Support fundraising activities such as securing loans, assessing M&A opportunities, etc.Other ResponsibilitiesApprove bi-weekly payroll and fund 401k contributions.Keep back-office organized (contract retention, other supporting documents, etc.)Review and approve new client engagement letters prepared by the Business development director.Review and approve other contracts, as applicable (vendor agreements, legal documents, etc.).Complete state registrations in jurisdictions where we hire new employees.Address any communications from government agencies (unemployment, workers comp, etc.) and ensure AZDS is in good standing and in compliance with state and federal agencies & regulations.Complete annual business insurance renewals.Maintain employee phantom plan (grant awards, track vesting, track and make payouts).Be an engaged member of the leadership team.Essential Experience:Accounting background requiredAt least ten (10) years of relevant work experience requiredExperience working in a high-growth startup environment (Series A through C equivalent)Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, accounting concepts and financial statements including ASC 606 revenue recognitionMaster of Microsoft ExcelDetail-orientedCritical thinker and problem solverStrong interpersonal skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsBachelor's degree in accounting or financeCPA or equivalent licensure preferredKnowledge of Professional Services and SaaS KPIs preferredCompensation and Benefits:Salary range of $150,000 to $180,000.Opportunity to participate in our employee equity program.Flexible time off policy + PTO for all major holidays & week off between Christmas & New Year's.Hybrid work opportunity with 50% of work days able to be worked remotely.401(k) - 4% employer match.Health, dental & vision & life insurance (company pays 100% of monthly employee premium).Opportunity to participate in the Company's on-site hotel & resort travel program.Sabbatical program for tenured employees.How to Apply:Please submit your resume and cover letter.
