The Purchasing Manager directs and coordinates activities of buyers and support staff engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, indirect materials, and supplies.

Responsibilities:
Establishes purchasing policies and procedures and directs purchasing programs accordingly. Establishes procedures to accomplish procurement of a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner.Prepares and assigns purchase orders and change notices to planner-buyers..Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports.Keeps informed of economic, industrial, and other trends that affect markets, prices, and delivery conditions.Reviews and monitors requisitions, supply sources, supplies, quotations, terms, etc.Recommends major purchases of materials on the basis of anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations. Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.Monitors performance and capabilities of vendors to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, and price commitmentsResearches and selects suppliers in conjunction with the strategic sourcing team. Develops and maintains good vendor relations. Negotiates price and terms with suppliers.Manages all purchasing activities and the development of production schedules.Leads strategic procurement initiatives that are aligned with company.Provides leadership, direction, and administration to all personnel assigned in his/her area.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business or materials management required. MBA preferred.8 years or experience in materials procurement in a manufacturing environment.5 years supervisory experienceExperience with vendor and customer relationship managementDemonstrated background with strategic supply chain management and planning.APICS Certification preferredPhysical Demands:
The role is mostly office-based but may spend some time standing and walking on the production floor.May operate a computer, other office devices.Occasionally will have to lift and/or transport items weighing between 10 and 40 pounds.Work Environment:
Predominately office environment with occasional exposure to the production floor.
