OVERALL DESCRIPTION:
To provide a secure, stable, computer network infrastructure. Maintain the availability, reliability, and integrity of the District 203 network including switches, routers, servers, Blades, firewalls, wireless access points, wireless controllers, and bridges.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support and Maintenance:Design, configure, implement and support the district Local and Wide Area Networks including Monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining network connectivity.Design, install, configure, and maintain network equipment including switches, routers, servers, Blades, firewalls, wireless access points, wireless dashboard, and bridges to support the district local and wide area networks.Install and support new systems and technologies such as Network Access Control, Digital signage, Microsoft Service Desk, Windows 8, SharePoint, Exchange, and Cloud based technologies including Office 365 and Google environments.Maintain safe, secure data centers; provide environmental monitoring for those data centers.Install, monitor, and maintain networking tools including network device management server, network monitoring server, ADFS, VPN tunnels, SCCM, and SCOM.Maintain Microsoft Active Directory, user accounts, file shares, and network printers.Maintain, configure and coordinate support for District Storage Area Networks (SANs).Maintain and configure district virtual server environments.Support district applications such as Email, anti-virus, PARCC testing and server based applications.Support internet access for staff and students according to applicable laws (CIPA); maintain web filtering software.Conduct, wireless site surveys for district buildings to ensure wireless coverage for students, staff, and guests to meet the requirements to support district applications and services.Create and maintain network documentation including operational proceduresCoordinate installation and support of leased lines with vendor contractors (Opt-E-Man, Comcast, ASE, etc).Provide information and pricing related to budgetary needs.Provide 3rd level end user technical support as related to the district networking infrastructure.Respond to help desk tickets for network issues in a timely manner meeting District established SLAs.Monitor and generate metrics on network traffic, and performancePerform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.Technology outlook:
Research and identify new network related technologies, identifying implications to the district network.Participates in a variety of planning and development activities including District-wide committees , lending network related expertise for the purpose of creating short and long range plans for IT programs throughout the District.Coordinate with other groups to plan deployment of new workstations.Provide third level network related supportQUALIFICATIONS:
Formal education in technology or related field.Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent IT experience and/or certifications.Certifications: A PLUS, NETWORK PLUS, Juniper/CISCO or MICROSOFT Certified Professional.Minimum 3 years in supporting servers, network routers, wireless, virtual servers in a Windows environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.WORK CONDITIONS:
