Overview
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Program Director at the YMCA of Northern Utah maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families. This is a seasonal position.

Responsibilities
Work with Assistant Director and Camp Director to develop camp summer schedule, weekly schedules, activities and records for all areas of camp program and facilitiesDeliver meaningful training and onboarding to ensure new camp staff are prepared and set up for successAssist Director in supervising, developing and evaluating seasonal camp staff. Give empowering feedback to improve skill sets and capabilitiesEnsure lesson plans are prepared and implemented to meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers. Lesson plans should be created that focus on purposeful, intentional, and explorative programming. Nurtures youth through purposeful programming; plans activities that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes, are culturally relevant, are developmentally appropriate, and are consistent with the Y's valuesDevelop and implement weekly theme activities which utilize and engage camp staff and campersPrepare and support the delivery of progressive program activities to cabin counselors and activity specialists Coordinate all camp program and campfire activities with other staffEvaluate the quality of the program after each session focusing on staff performance and the development of the campers' abilities, skills and enjoyment of all program activitiesImplement camper recognition program and develop additional recognition programs as needed in collaboration with the Assistant Director and Camp DirectorProvides opportunities for youth to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions and choices within the program and provides daily opportunities for youth to reflect on and respond to their experiencesAttends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainingCollect, maintain and evaluate operational records relating to ACA audit accountabilityCommunicate issues and problems as they arise to the Camp Director. Problem solves with support staff to resolve all issuesModels relationship-building skills in all interactions; develops and maintains collaborative relationships with staff, youth parents and other community stakeholdersAssist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areasProvide camp leadership with an inventory list for program supplies needed for the curriculum that fall within budget limits prior to summer. Attain weekly inventory checks on all program equipment, ensuring all equipment is fit for use and prepared for the following session. Advise Camp Director on any equipment/supplies that need to be replaced or purchasedFollows all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law or the Y (e.g., safety or emergency procedures, behavior guidance strategies, child abuse prevention policies); makes ADA accommodations where appropriate; maintains the program site, equipment, and required program records. Ensure that camp staff know and follow safety and educational procedures of camp programmingWork alongside entire camp staff throughout the program week and on the last day of program to clean the facility.Performs other duties as assigned*This is not an exhaustive list of job duties. Qualifications
Minimum of 21 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferredCPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required; will be provided in training if candidate does not have current certificationLifeguard certification preferred for YMCA Mill HollowMeet the YMCA of Northern Utah Driver RequirementsPrevious experience supervising staffPrevious experience in camp program developmentAbility to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds, with experience working with diverse populationsCommitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)Benefits
