Production Control Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW:Responsible for a wide variety of production planning and material management tasks supporting the manufacture and delivery of products.
Organize and coordinate work assignments for teams and individuals engaged in day-to-day production activity including large industrial shop facilities and the electrical assembly and test department.
Supervise electrical assembly and testing of Slick Sleuth oil spill monitor equipment and industrial controls. Works directly with engineering and shop manager to ensure availability of materials required to maintain established production schedules.
Plans and coordinates procurements including placement and tracking of purchase orders. Reviews production drawings, determines required testing procedures and works directly with quality control to ensure timely completion of in-process and final inspections.
Plan and coordinate general shipping and receiving tasks. Plan and coordinate scheduled stockroom inventories.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ASSIGNED TASKS PRODUCTION CONTROL:Maintain in depth awareness of current orders and production backlog. Develop ongoing plan for resource allocations required to achieve current production schedules and sales forecasts.Organize and coordinate work assignments for weld shop, machine shop, electrical assembly and test department. Review sales orders, open and close production work orders, generate shop travelers, and enter data into ERP and accounting systems as required.Work with management, sales and engineering to clarify all specifications and customer requirements at time of order entry.Work with project engineers to ensure current revision of controlled drawings and inspection procedures are available and delivered to the shop floor.Initiate and follow up change order requests, manufacturing discrepancy reports (MDR) and corrective actions. Review inspection test plans (ITP) and factory acceptance test (FAT) procedures.Work with engineering and shop manager to ensure correct sequence of all hold and release actions. Participate in project planning, design review and assessment activities with the goal of improving internal production and material control processes.
MATERIAL CONTROL:Work with project engineers and shop manager to identify manufacturing material and procurement requirements.Enter purchase orders into ERP and accounting systems and obtain line item requisitioner verifications.Obtain management approvals and issue purchase orders to qualified suppliers.Prepare receiving documents and determine internal routing and inspection requirements. Maintain records of supplier performance and compliance with internal quality objectives.
JOB DESCRIPTION:Work with shop manager to schedule delivery of required materials to the shop floor as needed to maintain efficient production workflows.Maintain secure storage of company inventory and customer owned equipment. Issue materials from inventory to authorized jobs and work orders.Perform accurate inventory counts and report findings to management. Plan and coordinate preparations for shipment. Ensure final inspections are complete and proper packaging methods are applied. Verify accuracy of packing lists, shipping labels, and commercial shipping documents. 3.0
QUALIFICATIONS:A bachelors degree in business administration, management or sciences from an accredited institution is preferred. Academic coursework or qualifying professional experience including military service will be considered on an individual basis.
Acceptable backgrounds will demonstrate strong planning and organizational expertise applied in an industrial manufacturing environment and show a history of broad professional growth throughout the individual's career path.
Five or more years of professional experience as a production manager or purchasing manager, preferably in a factory or heavy industrial setting.
Demonstrated experience planning day-to-day manufacturing operations including supply chain management with ability to collaborate and work effectively across multiple functions including accounting, sales, engineering, and project management.
Two or more years of professional experience in a management role providing direct and indirect supervision for a multidisciplinary trained staff on a daily basis.
Demonstrated ability to organize and manage manufacturing and warehousing operations through the effective action of others.
Must have working knowledge of industrial materials, components, methods and processes as they are typically applied in the manufacture of modern electromechanical systems.
Working knowledge of purchasing and contracting processes as implemented within an established ERP system.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with key suppliers and evaluate their performance.
Working knowledge of quality control processes and procedures applied within a certified ISO 9001 or AS 9100 quality management system.
Must be able to install and utilize new application software quickly as needed. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
Exercise good judgement, demonstrate effective communication skills, and work cooperatively with others in all departments.
Valid US passport and driver's license required.
