Job Summary:Systems Administrator performs administrative database management, problem solving, statistical analysis, report writing, and maintenance related to the systems for Windham Public Schools(WPS). The position is responsible for overseeing aspects of the student information system(SIS), connected databases, servers, and backups. This position also performs other duties necessary to support WPS systems networks. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology. Duties/Responsibilities:May include, but are not limited to, the following:
The essential functions or duties described below are the primary functions and duties. There may be other types of work that may be performed and the omission of a particular duty or function does not exclude that duty or function from the classification provided the duty or function is similar in work, related to the work or logically assigned to the classification.
The System Administrator receives oral or written instructions from the Director of Information Technology, plans and organizes work according to established or standard procedures; determines priority of work tasks; prepares reports and correspondence as directed by the Director of Information Technology.
Performs maintenance and administration of student information system including but not limited to, Gradebooks/Power Teacher management, Parent Portal management, account profiles, files, table, records, data imports/exports.
Troubleshoots and resolves day-to-day issues with the student information system; monitors school connections and systems availability;
Manages monitors systems capacities and prepares plans to avoid shortfalls;
Ensures all server and SIS backups run according to schedule;
Conduct any required and annual maintenance functions with Data Services Team;
Maintain software and databases including files, tables, queries, reports, imports/exports.
Performs data uploads and monitors synchronization to various systems i.e. Clever, Follet, Google Classroom, etc. Performs data exports for use in various WPS systems, formats, integration or analysis of data;
Trains and assists system users with the student information system.
Prepares and improves technical documentation, writes technical and user policies/ procedures;
Assist and supports student information system operating system;
Coordinates repairs/fixes with vendor; maintains security/integrity standards and controls in servers;
Assists in providing student information system technical expertise in planning projects;
Assists in performing Connecticut State Reporting including PSIS,TCS, ED reports according to published timetables.
Assists in performing Federal reporting including CRDC.
Assists and supports student registration and enrollment as required.
Stays up to date with current and emerging programming languages and technologies related to technical systems;
Performs other responsibilities and functions as directed by the Director of Information Technology.
Perform updates and maintenance as needed on various district systems, software and portals. Other administrative tasks may be assigned as appropriate.
Maintains confidentiality of all student records and information.
Perform other duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:

Bachelor's Degree Required
Minimum (5) years related experience
A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of this position may be considered in the lieu of stated education and experience requirements.
This position requires experience with Powerschool, database management, Connecticut state reporting, statistical analysis, programming language, technology support including network troubleshooting and end user application support. Experience in an educational environment is preferred. Strong communication skills required, i.e. must be capable of effectively presenting information, conducting user training, user application support and responding to questions from all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual, English and Spanish
