New York eHealth Collaborative: Systems Administrator
New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) is a not-for-profit organization working in partnership with the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) to improve healthcare by collaboratively leading, connecting, and integrating health information exchange across the State.
Founded in 2006 by healthcare leaders, NYeC works to help New York State achieve the Triple Aim of improving the patient experience of care, delivering better health outcomes, and reducing costs. On behalf of the State, NYeC leads the Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY), a network connecting healthcare providers statewide, develops policies and standards that support the utilization of health technologies, assists healthcare providers in adopting and effectively using electronic health records, and ensures that the SHIN-NY provides services to support the State’s public health and Medicaid efforts.
Position Summary:
The System Administrator supports day-to-day operations for the infrastructure environment and will be responsible for collaborating with stakeholders and team members to ensure the alignment of IT tasks and projects with organizational objectives. The Administrator will participate in the development, installation, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This role will monitor performance of all systems to ensure availability of data, applications, and computing resources. The Administrator will also provide assistance to project teams with technical issues and participate in the maintenance of appropriate documentation including maintenance, audit, and change management records. Your expertise will contribute to the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems while ensuring the highest level of data protection and network security.
This position reports to the DevOps Manager and can be operated out of the Manhattan, NY office or the Albany, NY office.
Responsibilities include:
Monitor system performance and ensure system uptime and availability.
Perform regular system updates, patches, and security configurations.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
Provision, configure, and maintain servers, storage, and networking equipment.
Maintain and administer Active Domain.
Implement and manage Cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, EKS).
Develop and execute test and quality assurance strategies and plans.
Develop documentation for user-audience as systems have been modified and/or new technologies have been implemented.
Maintain industry best practices for infrastructure reliability and sustainability.
Research and implement automated approaches to system administration tasks.
Ensure high system and infrastructure availability through monitoring and mitigation of potential issues.
Act as a liaison for stakeholders and third-party IT service providers for support and installations.
Provide technical support of the system, interfaces, and any customizations.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
Undergraduate degree, preferably in a related field
5+ years of experience in System Administration in a hybrid Environment.
5+ years experience in cloud-native application development and deployment.
Proven experience in administering AWS environment.
Professional level understanding working effectively in corporate technology environments, adhering to policies, procedures, and service level agreements (SLA’s);
Work with project management team, project plans, budgets, licensing, ticket systems;
Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls)
Working knowledge of Direct Connect, ExpressRoute.
Possess a basic understanding of Cyber Security requirements;
Professional certifications preferred, such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Security +, etc. a plus;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to work efficiently, effectively, and independently as well as in a team environment to see projects through to conclusion;
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and assignments with the ability to float between multiple projects;

This schedule is subject to change.
NYeC supports work happening across New York State. From time to time our team members must visit other parts of the state. The most common requirement is for a New York City based team member to travel to Albany and vice versa.
We consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may cause compensation to vary depending on your skills, experience, qualifications, and home office location (Manhattan, NY vs. Albany, NY). The annual base salary range for this role for an Albany, NY based candidate is $83,000 to $100,000. The annual base salary range for this role for a Manhattan, NY based candidate is $100,000 to $120,000. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, NYeC will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with NYeC.
