System Administrator Job Overview:

The IT Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for the effective administrator of infrastructure, network, and desktop support tasks within Information Technology. This individual will assist in implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining IT systems, including client, server, storage, network, and mobile devices. Key responsibilities include providing hands-on technical support, maintaining accurate asset records, and ensuring the timely resolution of hardware and software issues. The role also involves direct customer support via helpdesk services and contributing to larger IT infrastructure projects.

This is a fully onsite position located in Mountville, PA. Candidates must be within commuting distance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Helpdesk Support

Provide first and second-tier helpdesk support, troubleshooting issues related to desktop and mobile devices, printers, and network systems.

Ensure professional, clear, and solution-oriented communication with internal users, guiding them through basic troubleshooting steps and escalating complex issues.

Technical Support for End Users

Set-up and configure new hardware and software for end users, ensuring systems are operations and fully integrated.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues with PCs, mobile devices, printers, phones, and peripheral equipment.

Email Administration

Administer and troubleshoot email services, including configuring new accounts, resetting passwords, and resolving login and profile issues.

Manage permissions and user roles within email platforms, ensuring security compliance.

Asset and Licensing Management

Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory, licensing, and contract records.

Provide proactive alerts for expiring licenses or agreements, ensuring seamless renewals or upgrades.

Equipment and Vendor Management

Administer the repair process or warehouse hand-held devices and printers, including liaising with vendors and maintaining accurate repair records.

Communicate repair statuses effectively to internal customers, ensuring timely updates.

Virtualization and Server Support

Perform basic virtualization administration tasks, including rebooting virtual machines, resource allocation, and troubleshooting.

Assist with server management under the guidance of senior IT staff.

Network and Infrastructure Support

Assist in installing, configuring, and maintaining network components such as switches, firewalls, and storage devices.

Support network troubleshooting, including connectivity and performance issues

Active Director and Network Services Management

Maintain and support Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, and DHCP services.

Ensure that user permissions and network configurations are properly maintained and secure.

Collaboration and Team Participation

Participate in IT team meetings, contributing insights and updates on system administration activities.

Adhere to IT department process and procedures, ensuring tasks are completed in line with company standards and goals.

Backup System Administration and On-Call Responsibilities

Serve as a backup to the Systems Administrator II, stepping in as needed for critical support.

Participate in an on-call rotation, providing after-hours support for critical issues.

Education and Experience:

One year of experience in the administration and support of Microsoft Windows platforms including Windows servers and operating systems (server/desktop) required. Experience with SQL Server administration a plus;

Two-year technical degree desired with a focus in computer science or engineering or three or more years of professional experience serving in a systems administration role; or

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Office365 experience a plus.

PC and mobile device configuration and troubleshooting skills/experience required.

Experience in the administration of Active Directory group policies, DNS and DHCP.

Basic virtualization administration skills/experience. (VMWare)

Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping is imperative.

Experience within a manufacturing or logistics environment a plus.
