Location: US:WI:MENOMONEE FALLS at our FROEDTERT MEN FALLS HOSPITAL facility.

Shift: Shift 2
Primary shift 0900-1730, with occasional rotation for shift beginning at 0600 to cover PTO. No weekends at this time. Orientation will include 4-8 weeks at 0600-1430.
Job Summary:
Performs surgical, anesthesia, and out-of-operating room scheduling and clerical duties while functioning as an integral communication link for the nursing team, physicians, department contacts and clinics. Follows up with physicians, clinics, service coordinators, and department contacts. Accurately assigns surgical cases and Anesthesia resources to available time slots by working within guidelines. Aligns physicians, Service Coordinators, and department contacts to ensure proper equipment, procedure time, and staff needs. Serves as a liaison with specialty clinics, physicians, and department contacts for correct case and appointment scheduling by analyzing proper case and appointment needs. Identifies and escalates case and appointment discrepancies using decision making based on block time, prescribed number of teams and open scheduling opportunities. Generates daily schedules. Responsible for insurance authorization of all outpatient ophthalmological surgeries may be required dependent on scheduling location.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
A minimum of 3 years previous clerical experience and/or procedural scheduling systems experience is required. Experience with surgical scheduling systems is preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a medical terminology course is preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:
Knowledge of medical terminology. Professional written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to identify critical issues and exercise independent judgment. Demonstrated detail orientation with the ability to analyze, problem solve organize and manage multiple priorities. Excellent follow up skills a must. Proficiency in Word and Excel programs, Microsoft Office systems. Critical thinking skills.
