Title: Cloud Engineer
Location: Fairfax, VA - Onsite
Cloud Engineers work with Project Managers, Application Owners, Business Owners, Cybersecurity Engineers, and Data Administrators to design, build, test and maintain cloud solutions that are leveraged by county employees, external partners, and Client residents. They are responsible for developing and enforcing governance standards for cloud resources, managing Accounts/Subscriptions for cloud environments, delegating access to cloud resources, deploying enterprise-scale cloud IaaS/PaaS/SaaS solutions, and providing technical troubleshooting and guidance for cloud solutions. Cloud Engineers should exhibit comprehensive knowledge of Role-based Access Controls, Least Privilege Necessary security models, Policy-based management, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) deployments, and Hierarchical Management structures. They configure and manage virtual networking, virtual computing, enterprise applications, storage accounts, and cloud infrastructure monitoring solutions across a variety of cloud environments in support of a Hybrid-cloud architecture. Cloud Engineers work in conjunction with Cybersecurity Engineers to develop and implement appropriate security controls, following a least-privilege necessary methodology.
Identity and Authentication: Multi-factor Authentication, Cloud Identity Providers (SAML, OAuth 2.0)• Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) deployments using Native (Azure: BICEP, ARM, etc.) or Third-Party (Terraform, Ansible, etc.) technologies• Hierarchical Management structures in cloud solutions and policy-based management• Cost management and monitoring of cloud environments• Preferred Experience with Microsoft Azure and Entra ID• On-premise Active Directory experience• Microsoft Defender for Cloud
