In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our newer Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) facility in Clayton, NC sits on 825,000 square-feet of state-of-the-art equipment, and houses the Fermentation, Recovery and Purification in the production of ingredients for Novo Nordisk's innovative oral products. The Position
Support successful design & implementation of automation for process or utility systems. Provide input, review & approve design & requirement specifications. Secure proper & efficient implementation & qualification. Support production & other stakeholders. Improve reliability of the process control systems to meet current & projected customer, business & regulatory requirements by focusing on people & equipment while being the gatekeeper of our defined standards.

Reports to Manager, IT Operations & Support.
Essential FunctionsSupport troubleshooting during process downtimeSupport, develop & manage plans to maintain & improve process control systemsSupport & manage implementation of systems & interfacesSupport & manage Corporate, Product Supply, DAPI, site, stakeholder & departmental initiatives/projectsSupport technical clarifications with suppliers & internal stakeholdersOperate as automation resource on projects that involve process control systemsAdhere to automation standardsCoach & train colleagues & stakeholders in relevant areas/develop training material when necessaryUtilize the appropriate cLEAN® tools when relevant to solve problems or improve processesManage assignments within compliance with a Quality Mindset that focuses on risk management & mitigationEnsure quality of systems adhere to company standardsAdhere to Change Management standards
Physical Requirements
Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Strap & unstrap pallets using hands. Must be able to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site. May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science/engineering/related field, equivalent combination of experience & education requiredMinimum of two (2) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing (API, formulation, etc.), utility and/or packaging systems requiredKnowledgeable in troubleshooting (systematic problem solving) automated/IT system issues, including interfaces & hardware components preferredKnowledgeable in the following: PLC (Rockwell), HMI, PCS/DCS (DeltaV preferred), Historian (OSI PI preferred), SCADA systems, MES (Syncade, etc.) preferred, MS SQL preferredUnderstanding of programming & configuring PLCs, PCS or DCS systems preferredProven expertise in planning/organization & project execution. Strong in following up on results & revising the work plan for complex problems being resolved by cross functional teams preferred
