Principal Engineer Systems
to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in
Melbourne, FL
.
In this role, you will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Also, ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. In addition, perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs systems integration, and verification for total systems.
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Support system requirements development, management, analysis, and traceability, to translate customer requirements and CONOPS into systems requirements, and further allocate to lower level requirements.
Generates and updates System and sub-system level specifications in DOORS, including creation of Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRM) and verification traceability (tracing requirements to test plans/procedures/results)
Defines and executes overall system verification plan and associated products for FCA. Coordinate verification with sub-systems to ensure proper verification roll-up. Manage overall verification products in support of system sell-off

Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 0 years of related professional/military experience
Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, prior to the commencement of employment
Must have experience with system engineering tools such as IBM Rational DOORS
Preferred Qualifications:
First-hand experience with requirements management
Experience with verification of system requirements
Familiarity with system documents such as System/Subsystem Specifications, Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRM), etc.
Experience with Agile / Scrum / DevOps
Salary Range:
$92,600 - $139,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
