Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Buyer at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for procurement of goods and services in direct support of the shipyard or manufacturing operations. Primary contact with suppliers and internal customers in the areas of supplier performance, disposition of Hardware, flow of material to yard, RFQ requests and purchase order placement. Promptly communicate any material shortages or non-conformances and spearhead solutions to mitigate disruption to the production schedule. Understand and maintain the ERP system to provide accurate information to all dependent departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Execute the procurement of goods and services. Communicate parts availability to internal customers. Responsible for tactical goals, metrics, and reports. Create purchase orders to meet in yard dates. Resolve receiving discrepancies with the manufacturing location and supplier. Expediting -- Contact suppliers to determine delivery status of material and software deliverables. Develop cost savings plans. Enter and maintain Data in the ERP system. Create and administer progress payment forms. Execute and monitor RFQ's to the supply base and assist in analyzing the results. Participate in Manufacturing, Engineering, and Purchasing meetings. Participate in meetings with commodity or sub-contract leads. Analyze and interpret industry conditions which may have an effect on design, lead time and cost. Develop cost savings plans. Prepare and analyze quotes. Participate in weekly Manufacturing, Engineering and Purchasing Meetings. Provide guidance and feedback to other functional departments to improve processes/procedures. Internally Communicate with: Warehouse Personnel -- receiving/inventory discrepancies, shippers, procurement inspection reports, order quantities, and packaging requirements Program Managers -- approval signatures & material status Engineering -- technical assistance and clarity of material specifications Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) -- provisioning and technical manual submittals Manufacturing -- material ordering/expediting; timely communication of any shortage to the production schedule Finance -- invoice reconciliation Planning -- provide parts & schedule information Purchasing -- communicate significant production shortages to the Commodity Manager, yard and Purchasing management Contracts -- terms and conditions, contractual advice Externally Communicate with:

Suppliers -- material ordering, expediting, RFQ's,, supplier performance and receiving discrepancies Freight Forwarders -- customs services, imports/exports, bonds, duty Customer -- advise in-plant test dates and material disposition

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in a business or technical related field and at least 2 years' experience in supply chain or related experience; or This can also be met with an Associate's degree and at least 3 years' experience in supply chain or related experience; or a HS Diploma and at least 5 years' experience in supply chain or related experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word. Experience with MRP/ERP systems a plus. SKILLS
