Description:
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team! In this role, the data engineer guides robust and repeatable data manipulation, large scale infrastructure for data ingestion, and stunning data visualization for custom client applications. You will work on building automated data pipelines and transform data to be used to analytics and data science. You will build and maintain data systems and construct datasets that are easy to analyze and support customer requirements. Implement methods to improve data reliability and quality. Combine raw information from different sources to create consistent and machine-readable formats. Develop and test architectures that enable data extraction and transformation for predictive or prescriptive modeling. Develop and deploy Application Programming Interfaces (API) to expose IDST maintained data to the enterprise.

Roles & Responsibilities:Consult with stakeholders to understand their business needs and identify potential process improvementsLeads individual projects, including technical execution, client engagement, and project managementProvides technical leadership throughout the software/data engineering lifecycle and understands benefits and tradeoffs of various languages and platformsWrite well-documented and maintainable code using good data engineering practicesDeliver new features to the customer upon requestPrioritize development tasks and issues using agile methodology and the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)Required Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI with willingness to sit for the CI Polygraph, or active TS/SCI with CI PolygraphAdvanced Degree in technical field (M.S, or PhD) with 3-6 years of related work experience OR B.S. in technical field with 4-7 years work experience [equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of or in combination with education requirements]Experience using version control systems like Git, SVN, or MercurialProficiency in one or more of the following languages: Python, TypeScript, JavaScript and SQLExperience building and maintaining ETL pipelinesExperience developing REST APIs with web frameworks based in Node.js or Python (e.g. Fastify, Aiohttp, or similar)Experience working with relational databases and writing/maintaining SQL scripts for data-driven web applicationsAbility to test your code using a combination of unit and integration tests.Possesses the technical skills to carry significant load on projectsUnderstands how to translate business understanding into appropriate technical direction at the project levelAbility to drive data design/strategy in a consultative manner either internally or at the table with clientsUnderstands the role that data engineering can play in accelerating and improving the process of data scienceMastery using at least one tool, platform, algorithm, or language and is actively working towards mastery in additional tools and platformDepth of knowledge in multiple languages and toolsExcellent verbal and written communication skills to consult with customers, understand their business needs, and identify potential process improvementMaximum 36 hours on site per week with potential for hybrid work some weeksDesired:
Experience working with NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, or similar data science / analytics librariesExplore and analyze new/unstructured data sources and deliver insights to customersPython (Object Oriented Design)
