Description

Mazak Corporation's Midwest Applications department is searching for an Applications Engineer to join the team. The Applications Engineer assists Sales staff by providing technical information on the use of Mazak machine tools to produce customer parts/products, efficiently and with robust quality.

Scope and Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees

Provide telephone / e-mail customer support on the operation and use of Mazak Products.

Provide part processing / Machine recommendations to best produce customer parts at the stated quantities.

Perform time study estimates of machine cycle time.

Create proposals to manufacture customer parts including labor, and tooling/ work holding costs.

Conceptually design work holding and tooling as needed to support the manufacture of customer parts.

Demonstrate machine operation and machine features at trade shows and open house events.

Safely rig and install machines in Technology Centers and at trade show events.

Train customers on safe machine operation and detailed machine functions at the customer facility.

Perform test cuts to demonstrate machine capability / prove processing concepts.

Approximately 15% of travel is required.

Education/Certification:

Degree/Certification in mechanical, manufacturing, or related type field from an accredited vocational school or:

Associates degree in a mechanical or manufacturing or related type field from an accredited university plus two years of experience in a machine tool related filed.

Skills:

2-5 years of work experience on the operation and setup of cnc machine tools.

Must be personable and customer/sales oriented.

Must have an open mind and attitude to listen then reassure and ultimately help a customer.

Must have a strong communication/ verbal skills including ability to make and write a clear and concise reports with recommended action plan.

Must be capable to think through a problem and then resolve independently.

Must be mechanically inclined/ hands on type individual that enjoys working on machinery/ equipment.

Willing to travel and to keep a flexible schedule, also be adaptable as projects/ priorities change.

Experience with CAD/CAM and EIA/ISO (G-code) programming skills (Ex: Mastercam, Gibbs, Esprit, Fusion 360).

Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically strong in Excel.

Knowledge of metal cutting tooling and material grades.

Will require practical part processing knowledge and machine tool experience

Prior experience with programming and operation of Swiss style machines would be beneficial.
