Summary
SHRM is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Web Content Specialist to manage and maintain the content across SHRM’s websites. The Web Content Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that web content is fresh, relevant, and optimized for both user experience and search engines. This role will work closely with SEO, web developers, and other stakeholders to implement content updates, maintain taxonomy and tagging systems, and support the creation of web components that enable self-service page creation for content teams.
Responsibilities:
Manage and update website content to ensure it is accurate, fresh, and consistent with SHRM’s branding and style guidelines.
Regularly audit website content to identify outdated material, broken links, and opportunities for refreshing evergreen content.
Collaborate with the SEO Manager to implement on-page SEO strategies, including alt-text, meta descriptions, and proper keyword usage.
Maintain and optimize content taxonomy, tagging, and metadata to improve site navigation and search engine visibility.
Work with web developers to create reusable content templates and components that enable self-service page creation for content teams.
Ensure content follows accessibility standards and is optimized for user experience across all devices and browsers.
Provide reporting and insights on content performance, staleness, and engagement using web analytics tools like Google Analytics.
Develop and maintain documentation for content publishing processes, ensuring best practices are followed across teams.
Education & Experience Requirements
Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing web content in a CMS environment, such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or WordPress.
Experience working in a team environment, where collaboration and positive working relationships are a priority.
Experience with HTML/CSS for minor content fixes and troubleshooting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of web content management systems (CMS) and digital content publishing workflows.
Knowledge of on-page SEO best practices, including optimizing content for search engines, alt-text usage, and tagging for improved rankings.
Ability to organize and categorize content using taxonomy principles to improve content discoverability and user navigation.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Adobe Analytics) and the ability to provide insights based on content performance data.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams including developers, designers, and SEO specialists.
Ability to manage multiple content updates and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with a large, content-heavy website.
Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices for web content.

The hiring range for this position is $70,000 to $83,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
