The Research Outreach Manager will report to the Administrative Director. This position receives minimal guidance and requires the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will have strong technical, organization, project management, and communication (written and oral) skills to guide a multi-disciplinary team and ensure goals are established and deliverables are timely and meet requirements. This position also requires a high tolerance for ambiguity to research and develop solutions to undefined research topics. Position Description: 55%: Research Project Management Lead the MN-LHS P30 in partnership with the MPI's and core co-leads, ensuring timely progress towards core milestones and goals, synthesizing research strategy to operational plans. Break complex multifaceted research proposal(s) into discrete interconnected pieces of work with clear outcomes defined and dependencies identified. Manage graduate research assistants, coordinate staff resources with faculty expertise, and monitor progress tracking to (grant) budget and timelines that are fixed by nature. As required by project development, evaluate and recommend budget adjustments to meet project goals and deadlines. Effectively manage stakeholder expectations and resource requirements, as well as partner with staff and faculty for development and implementation of projects to ensure ownership and success. Lead regular meetings with core teams to establish priorities, check progress, identify and resolve issues including distribution of updates and ensuring next steps are complete. Assist in writing of study results, preparing reports, and disseminating findings. Perform quality control checks of data and proper storage in accordance with IRB and audit requirements. Ad hoc, support (as described above) additional research projects or sponsored project awards 30%: Research Outreach Management Develop and operationalize strategy to grow the CLHSS footprint within the local, regional, and national learning health system community, Minnesota health systems, and individuals interested in joining the learning health system field. Expand and stabilize the outreach component (PFCR, education, communications) of the CLHSS through engagement with the Medical School, School of Public Health, other University departments and colleges, and external organizations to expand the center's reach and influence. Guide staff to operationalize outreach strategies that support the mission and vision of developing the network of learning health system (LHS) research. Partner with the MN-LHS Integration Lead to further connect existing offerings and establish new engagement opportunities for LHS Scholars Analyze recommendations from the leadership team, advisory boards, and members; using that information to source experts and develop ideas for new educational offerings in the future. Expand educational opportunities to both promote public scientific literacy of LHS principles and a pipeline of qualified professionals conducting LHS research. 10%: People Management Supervise research outreach team staff supporting the PFCR, education, communication and engagement components of the center. Develop staff capacity and consult with core and program leadership to advise on staff work plans and goals with overall center and core/program strategies. Provide leadership for staff and foster a professional, diverse and equitable working envir nment within the center for people from all backgrounds, communities, and identities. 5%: CLHSS Operational Management Work with the Directors to establish processes and policies for efficiency. Serve as a key member of the CLHSS operations team to enhance the development and growth of CLHSS and its strategic goals. Serve as delegate for the Administrative Director when they are unavailable. Other tasks as assigned. Work Arrangements: This position follows UMN Work. With Flexibility. guidelines. Currently, the position will be primarily working from home. There may be occasional needs to be on campus and over time there may be a need to set a regular schedule for a few days on campus each week. Work hours should follow a regular schedule between 7-5, M-F. Salary range for posting September 2024: $87-97,000 Qualifications Required Qualifications: BA/BS with at least 6 years of research/project management experience or an advanced degree plus 4 years of related experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 6 years Experience working on federally funded projects, including pre- and post- award grant management Strong analytical skills with established organization and project management strategies to keep track of details in the context of the larger objectives and manage multiple responsibilities and projects Ability to work independently, as a part of a team, and with changing priorities Demonstrated ability to lead and phase projects, set and maintain deadlines, prioritize assignments, proactively problem-solve Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills University of Minnesota experience Experience with regulatory aspects (e.g. IRB and FDA) of conducting clinical research Preferred Qualifications: Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team Experience with clinical and/or translational research Healthcare experience or experience working in a healthcare system HIPAA & CITI Training Master's degree Project management certification Demonstrates resourcefulness: Independently identifies errors, anticipates issues, and problem solves About the Department The Center for Learning Health System Sciences is a one-of-a-kind partnership between the Medical School and School of Public Health with a goal to decrease the time it takes for science to make it from the lab to the clinic in pursuit of better health outcomes for the patients we serve.
