TRUMPF is seeking candidates for an onsite internship in the Applications Department at our Santa Clara, CA location. This internship will provide a college-level student with practical and professional experience that will enhance and compliment their classroom learning. This internship will be January 2025 to August 2025 for at least 32 hours a week.
Description
This internship is a fantastic opportunity for college or university students to learn about fast developing laser and manufacturing industries. You will learn to program and use industrial lasers for feasibility studies for various customers, and you will be involved in development activities with latest equipment. This internship will provide an overview and practical experience in the Applications at TRUMPF in Santa Clara, CA. The intern will be engaged in the day to day of the Laser Application Center and will be supporting the completion of customer applications with a focus on Laser marking, micro and welding processing. The intern will support one or more experienced engineers in assignments, shadow operations, and have personal assignments as part of larger projects within the LAC.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
Basic operation of TruMark, TruMicro and TruFiber laser equipment and process sample parts from various materialsPost processing of samples and communicating with 3rd parties on post processing support, as neededAssist laser application engineers with various tasks related to laser marking and weldingHandle metallurgy equipment such as microscopes, cross section equipmentTake part in customer visit preparationsBeing part of various design of experiments in the field of laser processingTake part in Laser Application Center meetingsMaintain Laser Application Center equipment and premises in excellent conditionAny additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by managementAdhere to all company guidelinesPay Range

Must maintain Valid Driver's LicensePhysical Requirement
Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office, and ability to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.Education & Experience
Enrolled in a 4-year college or university with a concentration in Engineering, Physics or related field. Junior or Senior status is preferredRelevant industry experience with lasers, laser applications, or other manufacturing processes is beneficialExperience in metallurgy and materials science is preferredAnalytical thinking and capability to work in a structured manner is essentialPrevious CAD experience a plusExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMicrosoft Office; Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
