The Validation Specialist is intended to represent the voice our of clinical users and patients from the radiation therapist perspective by identifying clinical workflow bottlenecks, missed opportunities, annoyance in workflows, and critical features which may lead to mistreatments or hazards.
Join the Product Validation team and use your analytical and logic skills to ensure that the medical devices being developed are of high quality, intuitive, and meet design and intended use requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure that validation is complete, and that Varian's products are safe, effective, and meet the user's intended use, with good objective test evidence prior to release.Evaluate and discuss clinical practices, treatment techniques and clinical process optimizations with Product Management, User Experience and Design Engineering teams to define new product requirements.Provide continuous feedback and implement improvements to the design, development, and modification of radiation and oncology products and systems.Support development and maintenance of Varian products, including Oncology Information Systems, Treatment Planning Management Systems, and Treatment Delivery and Imaging Systems.Define strategy for assuring thorough design validation of new products to demonstrate that they meet design and intended use requirements.Develop, modify, and execute design validation plans to meet product and system requirements.Participate in requirements analysis, use case development, and risk hazard analysis.Analyze and write test designs and procedures, establish traceability to requirements and risk mitigations.In addition to exploratory testing, consult with Product Verification Engineers, Product Marketing, User Experience and Project Management to resolve usability, requirements, software, and scope problems.Ability to work as a part of global development team and capability to travel globally (5-25%) to support Varian's validation efforts.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation and experience include one of the following.
Current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist plus five (5) years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience as a Radiation TherapistDegree (B.A., B.S., or its foreign degree equivalent) plus five (5) years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist and/or Clinical Applications Specialist using Varian's products
Thorough understanding of simulation, imaging, and treatment delivery clinical workflow scenarios in a radiation therapy center including proficiency with:
treatment delivery using variety of techniques including IMRT and VMATperforming stereotactic radiosurgeries for brain (SRS) & lung (SBRT) treatments
Knowledge of radiation safety practices, including safe handling of ionizing radiation equipmentNICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONSCurrent clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist and clinical experience as a Medical DosimetristProficient and efficient use of the following Varian products
ARIA Radiation Therapy Management software applicationslinear accelerators such as the C-Series, TrueBeam and/or Halcyon
Experience with motion management technologies such as Varian RPM, RGSC or optical surface tracking with products such as IDENTIFYBasic knowledge of ARIA Oncology Information System for Radiation Oncology and Eclipse Treatment Planning System software applicationsFighting cancer calls for big ideas.We envision a world without fear of cancer.
