The HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER OPERATING ROOMS have an outstanding opportunity for a MATERIALS MANAGER - SURGICAL SERVICES. WORK SCHEDULE • 40 hours per week • Day Shift
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS • Lead HMC Surgical Services in the documentation, development, implementation, and management of systems to manage perioperative materials, support strategic sourcing and value analysis, oversee procurement operations, capital budget, budget maintenance and manage vendors in alignment with enterprise standards • Serve as a liaison for internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear and efficient communication based on subject matter expertise for surgical services
Strong candidates will have experience with medical/surgical supply storage areas, occasionally operating rooms, within a hospital environment.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide leadership and direction for daily business operation activities in conjunction with the Director of Surgical Business Operations, supervisor, and leads • Responsible for oversight and maintenance of all surgical services supply inventory • Oversee, develop, standardize, and improve processes to manage perioperative material acquisition and equipment needs of Surgical Services • Responsible for oversite of daily ordering, inventory, and filling of all implant sets • Oversee inventory to maximize efficiency in the implant room and central core including stock and non-stock supplies and consignment inventory. • Support the maintenance of inventory control system (ensure accuracy of product line, proper level of stock, rotation of product, cleanliness of product/carts, accuracy of inventory charging and timeliness of product returns post procedure). • Provide analytical support (financial and utilization), volume forecasting and compliance monitoring for supply and equipment utilization. • Support the effort in meeting fiscal budgets and financial consignment targets, and to identify cost savings opportunities for materials. • Review contracts, submit revisions to Supply Chain Management based on review of volumes, financial impacts, and relevance to core business/mission. • Regularly review workflows and supply utilization to optimize productivity and cost-effective use of resources.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, materials management, economics, or other related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a related field. • Minimum of 2-3 years in combination of purchasing, contracting, materials management or other related areas, including experience with materials management systems and control of budgets. • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a peri-operative environment (Ambulatory Surgery Unit and/or Operation Room, and/or Sterile Processing required, combination may equal one (1) year. • Proficient in a variety of software applications with the ability to develop and analyze spreadsheets and write business communications. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment. • Excellent communication skills both oral and written. • Competence in essential computer applications i.e., Microsoft Office Suite.
