Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies Inc. is seeking an experienced Technical Support Engineer to join our team in supporting the Wideband Satellite Communications Operations and Technical Support II (WSOTS II) Contract. This position is the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) Subject Matter Expert (SME). The WGS SME provides technical services to the Wideband Consolidated Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Systems Expert (C-SSEs). The candidate must have knowledge of MILSATCOM C2 systems, SHF SATCOM, and will work in accordance with the Multilateral Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and various Communications Agreements/Arrangements between the US and its International Partners and Allies. The WGS SME the following IAW established processes and in support of Wideband C-SSE and SSE operations and technical assistance missions.

Essential Functions:

The Logistics Specialist duties include but are not limited to:

Provide transmissions management and network management of Wideband SATCOM Operational Management System (WSOMS) and other MILSATCOM C2 programs.

Serves as technical consultant for transmissions management and control for the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) system.

Assist with the development/coordination of policy and plans for the WGS program. Develop definitive technical solutions that consider systems architecture, interoperability, interfaces, protocols, networking, expansion potential and overall end-to-end compatibility.

Participates as consultant, advisor, or member in various Department of Defense (DoD), Joint, and Military Department (MILDEP) planning and working groups.

Analyze, evaluate, and recommend solutions to future communications and automation operational challenges using knowledge of satellite communications systems and their relationships to other telecommunications networks.

Provides technical and operational planning, system configuration and operational mission support.

Develops technical and management comments reflecting the command position with respect to Army and joint actions, interface with other command and higher authority.

Assists in managing Wideband SATCOM ground segment for transition to current/future satellites through concept, development, testing, procurement, production, and fielding.

Works at a senior level to define and integrate strategic direction for Wideband programs having long-term effects.

Develops/presents briefings to convey strategic vision or organizational policies.

Recommends decisions and policies in planning for new Wideband SATCOM program requirements.

Travel up to 25%.

Qualifications:

Active Top Secret security clearance, with SCI eligibility.

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Specific experience with the Global SATCOM Configuration Control Element (GSCCE) and Wideband SATCOM Operations Center (WSOC) operations is required.

Must have a minimum of 5 years Military SATCOM experience, with an emphasis on network control and satellite (ground equipment and spacecraft) operations.

Ability to act as liaison between the diverse WSOTS II customer base, contractor personnel, and OEM engineers.

DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level 2 certification (e.g. Security+), or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire.

Experience using Microsoft Office products.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Experience in working in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment.

Working knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cybersecurity requirements.

Previous experience supporting DoD/government customers.

Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.

Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Maryland is $70,000 - $130,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
