Position Summary:

The Human Resource (HR) Generalist assists the local HR team for assigned location(s) or functional area with administration of employee records, compliance with laws and regulations, training, interviewing, special projects, etc. This position provides HR policy guidance and interpretation to employees. The HR Generalist provides HR support in the day-to-day management of all employees. This position supports HR compliance initiatives to reduce legal risks and ensures legal compliance.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

Administer and execute HR programs, i.e., compensation, benefits, leaves, disciplinary matters, investigations, performance and talent management, recognition, engagement, health and safety, HR training, etc.

Develop and maintain employee partnerships with employees at all levels of the organization from frontline to senior level depending on the assigned location(s)

Provide cross-functional HR support for multiple departments as applicable based on assigned location (s) or functional area

Resolve basic to complex problems by leveraging HR knowledge, business knowledge as well as employee partnerships

Resolve or refer complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate resource as needed

Engage in HR Workstream projects, community outreach, employee engagement, etc.

Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, investigations, exit interviews, etc.

Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations by reviewing policies and practices and recommend best practices as needed

Remain current with HR trends, employment laws, best practices, regulatory changes, new technologies, etc.

Support employees represented by a union if applicable

Maintain an understanding of the collective bargaining agreement(s) if applicable

Other projects or duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field, 3 plus years of Human Resources experience or HS Diploma/GED and 6 plus years of Human Resources experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of an organization

Excellent follow up and follow through skills

Strong organizational skills

Strong sense of urgency

Experience working in fast-paced, business environment

Positive and professional mindset

Ability to demonstrate trust, confidentiality, and good judgment

Continuous improvement mindset

Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

Proficient with HR Information Systems, Timekeeping Systems, Applicant Tracking Systems, i.e., UltiPro, iCIMS, Kronos, etc.

Strong Microsoft Office skills i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Travel up to 15%

This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Master’s degree

PHR or SPHR Certification

SHRM Certification

People leadership experience

Advanced Microsoft Office skills, i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

SAP experience

Union experience including Collective Bargaining, etc.

Experience working for a company with transportation i.e., DOT, JJ Keller, etc.

Experience working in a food and/or beverage company
