is seeking a
Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM)/Optical Network Lab Engineer (Intermediate)
to join our DISA program team in Fort Meade, MD. This is an exciting key position providing Engineering Support which provides end-to-end engineering solutions for DISN projects.The candidate will work on all aspects of TDM legacy network support and migration/integration with the optical network equipment of DOD's existing 100G capable global transport network, and expansion to 400G capability. The candidate will work in the lab to test and validate key TDM equipment and its integration with Optical nodes and provide connectivity to various other programs in the DISN lab such as MPLS and Secure network transport. The candidate will support the DISA operations with any operational issues that will have to be validated and resolved as chronic issues, requiring quick lab support.As a Network Lab Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering, testing, implementing, and providing Tier III support for all TDM/Optical initiatives ensuring mission success.ResponsibilitiesBased on the direction from the client develop test plans, conduct testing, and provide TDM/Optical connectivity to other programs.Provide day-to-day support for lab connectivity for various test engineers.Support on-site and off-site testing with various TDM and Optical vendors. Integrate test support with MPLS engineers.Provide in-depth engineering analysis, deployment, and transition plans of transport-level equipment in support of government strategic modernization efforts.Interface with operations and implementation vendors in the implementation of developed deployment and Wavelength Plans.Experience/Qualifications:DoD and/or Government program experience preferred; DISA experience a plus.Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related fieldMinimum 4-6 years experience working in the planning of legacy and emerging transport technologies such as Optical Transport Systems (a.k.a. DWDM), OTN/Packet switching, L1/L2 switches, and legacy SONET/SDH technologies.Familiarity with ITU-T, OIF, and IETF standards.Knowledge of transport protocols such as ITU-T G.709, Layer 1/Layer 2 protocols, and Ethernet.Familiarity with QPSK, and QAM is highly desirable.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools; specifically, PowerPoint, Word & ExcelExcellent communication, effective leadership, and interpersonal skillsSpecial Requirements/Security ClearanceDoD Active Secret Clearance Required (or eligible for Interim Secret Clearance)DoD Approved 8570/8140 Certification, i.e., Network+ CE, Security+ CE or similar.Prior experience with TDM equipment such as Cisco 15440 (MSPP) and Sycamore SN9K and SN16K is a must.Prior experience with Optical Manufacturers such as Ciena, Cisco, Infinera, or Nokia equipment is a plus.Knowledge of network management, and network control systems
