Short Term Contract: 3-6 Months
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases and contribute to these aspects of our data warehouse and data lake environments. The DBA will also be involved in the planning, design, development, and integration of these databases into our overall data ecosystem, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users. This role requires a strong understanding of database and data warehouse structures, theories, principles, languages, and practices with a solid understanding of how these constructs interact with data lakes and data lakehouses. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties and Responsibilities Database Design and Architecture:
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of SQL, structured, and unstructured data within the technology stack – currently On Premise – ensuring robust architecture, scalability, and high availability. Database/Data Warehouse Management:
Install, configure, and maintain database systems including SQL Server, Azure SQL, MySQL and file-based semi-structured data formats. Performance Tuning and Optimization:
Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high levels of data availability, integrity, and security. Consolidation and Integration:
Merge and consolidate databases Backup and Recovery:
Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions. Security:
Ensure database security, including user roles, access controls, and encryption. Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve database access and performance issues. Maintenance:
Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as tuning, patching, and upgrades. Documentation:
Develop, manage, and test database recovery plans and procedures. Maintain documentation of database configurations, processes, and service records. Support:
Provide technical support and guidance to users, developers, and other IT staff. Collaboration:
Work closely with the development team to optimize database design and support application development.
