Overview Tecolote Research is actively seeking to fill an available Data Scientist position supporting the Space Force as a member of the Space Systems Command (SSC) Business Intelligence Group. Responsibilities Collaborate with subject matter experts from a diverse cross-section of SSCs business operations (personnel, finance, contracting, acquisition, logistics, etc.) Translate business needs into technical requirements Iterate with customers in an agile manner to ensure satisfaction Develop and maintain data pipelines Generate analyses and visualizations for ad hoc data requests Build dashboards to provide insights for recurring analytics needs Train and deploy models to forecast events (time series) or predict outcomes (machine learning) Leverage Large Language Models (LLM) or other Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) capabilities to solve business problems Salary range: $70,000 - $85,000/year, DOE Skills Required Must Have: Ability to obtain a Secret clearance Minimum of 5 years professional experience in analytical roles Ability to work on-site in El Segundo a minimum of 2 days per week Proficiency with data transformation in Python (Pandas and/or PySpark) Excellent communication and presentation skills An eye for effective data visualization and dashboard design Nice to Have: Active Secret clearance Experience with Palantir Foundry analytics platform Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, SQL A working knowledge of the AI landscape (supervised/unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, deep learning, GenAI, prompt engineering, etc.) Experience with the use of LLMs in a business setting Familiarity with the government acquisition lifecycle ```{html} ``` - Advanced degree - Relevant professional certifications - Continuing education in Data Science/Analytics/Artificial Intelligence Education Bachelors degree required, preferably in math, engineering, business, or the sciences.
