About the Role:

Our newly created Head of Media Brands role is the ideal opportunity for someone with a passion for storytelling and a deep understanding of culture and the media landscape. This key leadership role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the overall business objectives and My Code’s Media Brands. The Media Brands role will champion the importance of amplifying diverse voices across the industry.

Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Head of Media Brands should have experience driving all forms of editorial expression, from news content, events, and podcasts to video, print, digital, and social. A proactive thought leader, the Head of Media Brands will work across our entire portfolio of My Code brands as a center of excellence to help set and maintain the performance, deliverables, and structure standard for our editorial and content teams.

This role requires a strategic thinker who deeply understands content creation, distribution, and audience engagement. The Head of Media Brands will lead a team of content professionals to produce and scale high-quality content across various platforms and channels that resonate with diverse audiences. This role will have an undeniable pulse on culture and community, leading the way on what is happening now and what’s next!

Responsibilities:

Work closely with our senior leadership team to develop and implement a content strategy that drives audience growth, engagement, and revenue.

Oversee the creation of compelling and engaging content across various formats (articles, videos, podcasts, etc.).

Work closely with senior leadership to build operational efficiencies across media properties and social channels.

Optimize content distribution across multiple channels and platforms to maximize reach and impact. Grow existing social channels and launch new social opportunities.

Build a social first strategy and distribution plan

Collaborate with marketing, sales, and other departments to ensure content alignment with business goals.

Develop data-driven content strategies to meet business objectives and user needs across various new and existing verticals.

Monitor content performance and provide actionable analysis and optimization recommendations.

Manage and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and strategic communication.

Represent the company in thought leadership opportunities such as panels, speaker series, and publications.

Hire, Develop, and Manage our Editorial and Content teams as a leader who can offer practical solutions, hands-on guidance, and strategic vision and direction. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging content formats.

Key Projects:

During your first 90 days, you will be asked to build the business’s narratives and message to support the content strategies and editorial decisions. Your focus will be on building first-class content with our content teams to ensure optimal delivery of content to target audiences across multiple channels.

Qualifications:

10+ years of experience as a respected leader in content creation (publishing, journalism, etc.).

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, or related communications field. (MBA a plus)

Experience in media, content, and entertainment space and a clear understanding of the diverse and multicultural media, digital, and social landscape.

An experienced and talented leader who has a proven track record in hiring, building, and managing diverse teams

A high degree of editorial integrity in your management principles, policies, and practices

Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable working in a fast-paced scale-up environment

Proven ability to influence and interact successfully with diverse individuals at all levels

Strong writing, editing, strategic planning, relationship, consensus-building, problem-solving, and oral/written presentation skills

An aptitude for working within complex messaging hierarchies to deliver an effective content marketing strategy and editorial plan/calendar to meet business objectives

Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and foster superior partner relations

Audience development and subscription strategies experience a plus.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $220,000-$240,000. The salary and bonus structure is determined on a wide range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography
