AECOM has a position opening for a Lead Electrical Engineer to support our growing Energy Business Line. For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States through our Freedom to Grow program.
Our team provides a wide range of electrical engineering services across markets sectors including
transmission (substations, OH/UG transmission systems, generator interconnections, interconnection strategy), power distribution (OH/UG power systems, substations, EV charging networks, microgrid design, etc.), renewables (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind), and next generation energy (hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolyzers, etc.).
We are looking for a strong leader with a heavy industry and electrical engineering background to mentor team and promote our skills to new clients as well as maintain our existing client base. Qualified candidates will have a strong technical background coupled with leadership/supervisory experience.
The successful candidate is expected to be a detail orientated, experienced engineer who can make decisions independently. The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Provide mentorship to other electrical engineers within the Energy Center of Excellence and other remote teams
Supporting the Chief Electrical engineer on developing workload forecasts, design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities
Performing Power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis)
Directing electrical infrastructure physical layout
One line and three-line diagrams
Developing construction and electrical equipment specifications
Protective relay and metering one line / three-line diagrams
One-Line Diagrams
Wiring Diagrams and Schematics
Panel Layouts and Schedules
Plan Drawings such as grounding plans, lighting plan, raceway plans, cable tray plans etc.
Electrical Lists - Cable and Conduit Schedules, Load List, Equipment List
Calculations – ampacity, cable sizing, conduit sizing, transformer sizing, Grounding Analysis and Design, underground cable and duct bank
Equipment Specifications and Data Sheets
Bill of Materials
Reviewing engineering work performed by peers
Attending client meetings
Occasional travel to client and/or project sites
Level specific responsibilities:
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
Participates in development of technical proposals.
Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
6+ years of relevant electrical experience
EIT Certification with willingness to attain professional engineering license
Preferred Qualifications
Academic degree from ABET accredited college or university
PE licensure
3+ years as discipline technical lead on projects
10+ years of relevant electrical experience
Successful track record working with remote teams
Strong familiarity with industry codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc.).
Strong familiarity of current building codes and standards
Strong written and verbal skills with an ability to lead engineering tasks
Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish.
Plant Startup and Commissioning Field Experience
Power systems analysis software experience (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower)
Solar or wind facility experience
Experience working in collaborative 3D model environments (e.g. Navisworks) and laser scan data
