Project Term

Bioinformatics Analyst II – Translational Research with experience in analyzing omics data for biological research to support our joint research projects with industry partners. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player who can work closely with internal scientists and external collaborators, an excellent communicator who can translate ideas into solid data analysis plans and testable hypotheses, a quick learner who can adapt new methodologies to achieve goals, and a tireless worker who can complete projects under time constraint.Essential FunctionsUse both standard and tailored methods to analyze clinical metadata and multi-modal omics data, including but not limited to: scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, CITE-seq, TEA-seq, flow cytometry, and proteomics.Analyze data from clinical trials, biomarker research, and/or target identification and prioritization.Work closely with immunologists and bioinformaticians to explore omics data for hypothesis generation and testing.Review, implement, troubleshoot, and improve analytic methods developed by others internally or externally.Assist scientists in data analysis and data presentation.Identify potential biomarkers and/or drug targets for diseases of interest and perform network analysis.Generate high-quality figures and tables for presentations and publication.Meet analysis deadlines and be able to pivot between multiple projects.Required Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Bioinformatics or closely related discipline.2 years of equivalent experience in a biological research or industry setting.Preferred Education and ExperienceMaster's degree in bioinformatics or closely related disciplines.2 - 5 years of experience in industry research.Hands-on experience analyzing high throughput omics data.Basic knowledge of molecular biology and wet-lab omics technologies.Demonstrated experience in writing code for omics data analysis.Fluency in R and/or Python.Experience in analyzing data from clinical trials, biomarker research, and/or target identification and prioritization.Experience in generating high-quality graphs for presentation and/or publication.Basic knowledge of human immunology.Familiarity with cloud computing and/or Linux.Demonstrated success in a multidisciplinary team environment.Ability to learn and implement new software tools and packages.Experience using Git or similar version control system.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.Able to work independently as well as in a collaborative high-paced environment under minimum supervision.Self-motivated, a team player, attentive to details, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Good problem-solving skills, curious and eager to learn new skills.Physical DemandsFine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and other office equipment; repetitive motion with lab equipment.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkOccasional evening and weekend hours required.This role is currently able to work both remotely and onsite in a hybrid work environment.This is a Project Term assignment expected to last through February 2026 based on budget and business needs.TravelAttendance and participation in national and international conferences may be required.Additional CommentsPlease note, this opportunity offers relocation assistance.Annualized Salary Range$89,100 - $110,200 ** Final salary depends on required education for the role, experience, and level of skills relevant to the role, along with work location, where applicable.It is the policy of the Allen Institute to provide equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all persons regardless of age, color, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, genetic information, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
