About the Role
Controller is critical for our autonomy system. We are looking for an experienced Controls Engineer. In this impactful role, you will collaborate with best-in-class engineers to tackle challenging problems and help advance the future of robotics to improve everyday lives.
About the Work
Develop robust, reliable and optimized production-level control software following safety standards (ISO 26262)
Develop proper and robust coupling mechanisms between planner and controller for expanded ODD including parking lot maneuvers through highway driving under various weather conditions and road surfaces
Investigate Machine Learning for vehicle dynamics and feedback policy to improve vehicle performance, drivability and reduced time for new vehicle platform bringups
Develop vehicle motion monitors to monitor trajectory tracking and actuator control performance for meeting functional safety requirements
Collaborate closely with engineers across hardware, base software, upstream autonomy, vehicle testing and system teams.
About You
MS in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, aerospace, robotics, or closely related field
3+ years of experience in developing L2+ or higher level automated driving controls software
Implementation of classical and modern controls methods and/or ML for Controls
Strong embedded C (preferred) or C++ programming skills
Strong math (geometry, analysis, probability), physics (kinematics, dynamics), and analytical skills
Proven ability to collaborate within and across teams
Effective oral and written communication skills
Deep knowledge in vehicle dynamics, controls theories, control strategy development and testing
Significant hands-on controls development for L2+ or higher level Automated Driving systems
Passionate about solving real-world challenging autonomous driving problems
Fast to learn new areas and adapt quickly to new problems
Self-starter and good team player with strong drive and accountability
At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $167,200 and $250,800/year for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
