About SalesforceWe’re Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI + Data + CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too — driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world.
Job DetailsEnterprise search is a new effort within Slack to help users find and bring external data into their flow of work. You will help drive a team that builds a comprehensive solution for bringing disparate sources of data into Slack in a cohesive way. We are building both a robust backend solution for interacting with various third-party APIs as well as a fabulous in-Slack experience for enabling users to make these data actionable and interactive.
In this role, you will meld creative product thinking, an understanding of people from various backgrounds, and thoughtful use of data to build best-in-class enterprise solutions.
You’ll lead a hardworking team of frontend and backend engineers while growing your team through recruiting efforts. We're looking for someone invested in their team's career development and that facilitates psychologically safe discussions about project deliveries, process improvements, and mentorship. You should be well-versed in full-stack design principles and be able to give advice on code architecture and implementation.
Our TeamSearch is responsible for bringing meaning to Slack's backronym: a Searchable Log of All Conversations and Knowledge. We build and maintain highly scalable, reliable systems to ensure we deliver the right content to users when they need it.
What You Will Be Doing
Defining, evolving, and communicating the team’s vision, mission, and strategy across Slack.
Collaborating with Product and technical leaders to build a roadmap for your team.
Delivering team goals in a timely and efficient manner.
Implementing effective engineering processes and policies.
Setting and fulfilling the engineering hiring plan for the team.
Coordinating requests with third-party companies to ensure we meet our technical goals.
What You Should Have
2+ years of engineering management experience leading productive, high-functioning teams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
Ability to contemplate several, often conflicting, constraints and make rapid decisions.
Technical experience to discuss architecture and product decisions with engineers.
Proven history of shipping products with consistent execution.
Highly organized and thrives in rapid-paced environments.
Comfortable with performance conversations and recognizes the relationship between objective feedback and career growth.
Hands-on experience in API design and development.
Excited to explain sophisticated technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Ability to build roadmaps and develop a long-term team vision in partnership with Product Management and other engineering teams.
