Scope of Position:
Zero Motorcycles is seeking an experienced EH&S Manager to lead the safety and environmental compliance initiatives at our manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all aspects of our environmental health and safety programs. This role requires strong leadership skills to engage cross-functional teams, enforce safety standards, and maintain regulatory compliance. The EH&S Manager will collaborate with plant management and senior leadership to drive a proactive safety culture, mitigate risks, and ensure adherence to all OSHA, EPA, and related regulations.
This is a full-time position working from our headquarters in Scotts Valley, California, reporting to the Vice President of Operational Excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe work environment, covering both proactive measures and corrective actions for incidents and near misses.Oversee all environmental compliance activities, including air emissions, wastewater management, and hazardous waste disposal, ensuring full regulatory compliance.Lead regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections, and drive continuous improvements in EH&S standards.Set and enforce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements based on hazard assessments, manage PPE procurement, and track usage.Lead training and development initiatives related to EH&S, ensuring all employees receive appropriate safety training and retraining in compliance with regulatory standards.Ensure documentation and record-keeping for all safety incidents, environmental compliance, audits, and training are up-to-date and maintained properly.Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, including OSHA, EPA, and local environmental agencies.Implement and maintain an EH&S Management System, including overseeing incident reporting, corrective action processes, and safety metrics.Lead accident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents.Establish and lead a Safety Committee, engaging employees in EH&S programs and initiatives.Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including coordinating drills and training.Report key safety metrics, including Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART), and environmental metrics to senior leadership, ensuring accountability for meeting targets.Manage ergonomic programs, ensuring safe working conditions and practices, and mitigate risks for musculoskeletal injuries.Lead EH&S compliance audits and represent the company during regulatory inspections.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Safety, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in EH&S leadership, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment.Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory bodies.Proven ability to lead EH&S programs, build safety culture, and drive continuous improvement.Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in root cause analysis.Experience in leading and conducting internal audits and inspections.
The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $145,000depending on location and experience
