Flex
Director, Federal Government Affairs
Flex, New York, New York, us, 10261
Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It's hard to believe that it's 2024 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We're here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?
We are seeking an experienced Federal government affairs leader to build awareness of Flex's mission, products, and social good initiatives among policy experts, while strengthening the company's understanding of the U.S. policy environment. The Director of Federal Government Affairs will collaborate across our business units, as well as with legal, compliance, and communications teams, to develop and implement policy engagement programs that support our mission and enhance our ability to serve members and clients effectively.
This role requires a keen understanding of the U.S. regulatory and political landscape surrounding fintech and traditional consumer financial services firms, along with proven experience applying this knowledge for companies in the sector. The Director of Federal Government Affairs will be based in Washington, DC.
What You'll Do:
Represent Flex in engagements with U.S. policymakers and build relationships with key stakeholders in the legislative and executive branches.
Review legislation and proposed regulations to assess their potential impact on Flex.
Provide timely updates on how the policy and political landscape affects Flex.
Develop and implement engagement programs related to legislation, proposed regulations, and other policy developments.
Manage external lobbying firms and coordinate with industry and trade groups.
Build and strengthen relationships with advocacy organizations focused on issues important to Flex's business.
What You'll Need:
At least 10+ years of experience in policy, government affairs, and/or politics, with a strong preference for experience in consumer financial services and fintech.
Proven track record of developing and implementing proactive and reactive policy engagement programs for financial services and/or fintech companies.
Strong knowledge of and relationships with policymakers, advocates, trade groups, and others involved in financial services and fintech issues.
Experience building and shaping teams from the ground up.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Bachelor's degree.
The salary compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks.
The base salary pay range will be $160,000 - $200,000
