Description
The Environmental Services (ENS) Global Practice of Burns & McDonnell is currently seeking an Environmental & Regulatory Compliance (ERC) Engineer to support our Atlanta and southeast operations.
The candidate will lead work for both small and large-scale projects including but not limited to developing proposals and cost estimates, executing project tasks, and developing strategic plans. This individual will use strong regulatory and technical understanding of facility and corporate-level environmental permitting/compliance support to execute multi-media compliance auditing, environmental site assessments, develop and prepare Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, Facility Response Plans (FRPs), and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), hazardous waste management (RCRA), federal and state EPCRA reporting, and provide facility-level training. Will also develop, implement, and audit environmental management systems (EMS).
The Staff Environmental Engineer will work within our ENS Global Practice to perform the following duties:
Project management, team leadership, management & mentoring of junior staff
Preparing studies, evaluations, plans and state documentation for all types and sizes of environmental projects
Technical report writing of technical reports and regulatory (Federal, State, local) permitting documents
Working with clients, resource agencies, environmental and technical staff to prepare environmental documents and related technical studies
Understanding of environmental and non-environmental permitting for construction projects
Expertise with environmental compliance, permitting, and agency consultations
Developing, cultivating and strengthening client relationships
Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related engineering degree from an accredited program required
At least 3 years of related professional (5-7 years providing environmental consulting services is preferred)
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience with ISO 14001 certifications, air quality permitting, and OSHA regulations is preferred, but not required.
Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
Ability and desire to conduct technical research, expand technical knowledge basis, and remain current on new regulations and market trends
Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on and manage multiple tasks/projects with tight deadlines.
Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Willingness to travel 25-40%.
Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
