Creighton University is seeking to hire a Director for the Educational Opportunity Center in Omaha, NE.
Provides leadership for the Educational Opportunity Center, one of the 5 federal grant-funded TRIO programs at Creighton University. Focused on providing holistic support for adult learners seeking to continue their education up to a bachelor’s degree. The Director oversees all aspects of the program including staff supervision and management, delivery of grant mandated services, development of programs focused on student success, compliance with government and University regulations and reporting, and financial accountability. Works with key internal and external stakeholders to implement programs that support these adult learners, which includes a focus on first-generation students, and individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Builds partnerships within Creighton University that will benefit their program participants and serve as a member of the Student Success leadership team.
This is a grant-funded leadership position that serves low-income and first-generation community members in a variety of education-seeking initiatives, including GED classes at the Highlander Accelerator and with Sarpy County Corrections.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and lead all aspects of the Talent Search program and implement grant mandated services that meet grant and University objectives. Interpret federal legislation and regulations relevant to the administration of the Talent Search TRIO projects.
Hire, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate professional staff personnel.
Build relationships with internal and external partners.
Promote the Talent Search program (mission, objectives, and philosophy) to the university community.
Provide administrative leadership through policy development, preparation of reports, and development of publications, public relations, and communication.
Develop and implement formative and substantive program assessment and oversee student data system. Prepare continuation and annual performance reports based upon federal guidelines and data analysis.
Contribute to the preparation of a high-quality grant proposal that integrates current U.S. Department of Education priorities and identify and pursue additional funding sources for program initiatives.
Plan, develop, and manage the Talent Search federal and institutional budgets, and ensure ongoing financial analysis of accounts in compliance following all rules and procedures.
Contribute to Student Success divisional efforts that support the persistence, retention, and overall success of Creighton students as needed.

Qualifications
Master’s degree required.
5 - 7 years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the assistant or director level administering comprehensive support programs supporting underrepresented student populations (including individuals from lower socio-economic and/or racially/ethnically diverse backgrounds).
Demonstrated success in a leadership role in higher or secondary education with program development and staff management preferred.
Prior TRIO experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience making effective public presentations to a variety of audiences.
Understanding of departmental budgets and general accounting principles.
The ability to develop relationships with a wide variety of community constituents.
Experience gathering relevant data for reporting, promoting program, and grant writing.
