The Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level in Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy (STEP). The faculty member will join a vibrant community of interdisciplinary scholars at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, support graduate students as part of the M.S. in Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy professional degree program and the Ph.D. in Public Affairs program, and maintain a research affiliation with the Center for Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy. Successful candidates must demonstrate the potential to develop an innovative and socially impactful research portfolio that addresses contemporary questions related to energy or environmental policy.Applicants may have disciplinary backgrounds in public policy, public affairs, environmental studies, environmental economics, human dimensions, or related fields. We seek candidates working in the areas of U.S. and global environmental policy; food, energy and/or water policy; environmental governance; climate change mitigation and adaptation policy; environmental justice; or related areas. We welcome applications from scholars employing a broad range of methodological approaches with a preference for applicants who have a demonstrated commitment to engaged and interdisciplinary scholarship. Candidates should be able to teach graduate-level courses in policy analysis, environmental decision-making or environmental economics, one methodological course, and a seminar course in their area of expertise.The starting date for this appointment is August 25, 2025 or as soon thereafter as possible.
