ResponsibilitiesThis Senior Network Engineer position supports the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3), a leading organization in the field of cybersecurity. This position serves as a functional member of a team consisting of a Program Manager and several other matrixed support staff that conduct software development, software engineering, cloud computing, and IT portfolio management. In this role, the selected candidate will be embedded at a customer site, working closely with our client to design and plan network communications systems. The candidate will provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architectures, conduct cost/benefit analysis, and provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure proper configuration options are set. Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network. Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations. Maintains technical expertise in all network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing areas, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance the capabilities of the network. May be assigned responsibility for managing the systems administration function, including associated staff. In this role, you will not only perform a range of network, system, security, and software administration functions but also have the unique opportunity to broaden your skill set and enhance your professional growth. Your network administration skills, including router/switch/firewall administration, VLAN implementation, PXE boot use/configuration, DHCP, DNS, and VLAN knowledge, will be put to use. You will also have the chance to showcase your system administration skills, such as Active Directory Domain administration knowledge, administering group policies, creating ADUC accounts, and managing FTP/SMB servers. Your Network Security skills, including Understanding of an Intrusion Detection System (IDS), ability to read and translate SNORT rules, and perform PCAP analysis, will be honed. Your Software skills, including the ability to perform Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) scripting, conducting RDBMS admin/query, consuming APIs, and Web scraping, will be further developed. QualificationsMinimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD.

Must have experience in:

Network/System Engineering and Administration: Cisco, Brocade, and GPON technology knowledge is a plus; PXE Boot architecture, AWS EC2/S3.

Computer Hardware: Basic troubleshooting, BIOS setting (UEFI/BIOS), Microcomputers (Raspberry Pi/Beagle Bone).

Network Security: Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) installation and maintenance, SNORT create and deploy rules, Advanced PCAP analysis (TShark, MiTMProxy), IDS log analysis. Analysis of weblogs, proxy logs, and firewall logs.

Software Development: Proficient in one or more computer languages (compiled or interpreted), Advanced ETL scripting in Powershell/python/bash, Web application development and scraping, MS Office Macros, Web server administration, Database systems (SQL/NoSQL), High-level languages (C/C++/Java).

Top Secret/SCI w/ Poly.

Target Salary Range$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
