Director of Religious Education - Immaculate Conception Church, Auburn (Auburn, IN)
Immaculate Conception Church is seeking a dedicated and passionate person to serve as the Director of Religious Education for children in our parish. This person will work with our pastor to help the Church’s mission to teach all nations. The ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic who believes and lives all of the teachings of the Catholic Church. The candidate will also need to possess a strong foundation in Theology of the Body, exhibit expertise in Safe Environment training of the students, demonstrate proficiency in sacramental organization, and possess organizational skills to create and manage the school calendar. The Director of Religious Education will be responsible for overseeing the registration process for students, managing supplies, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the religious education program.Responsibilities:
Registration of Students:
Manage the registration process for students, including enrollment, record-keeping, and communication with parents/guardians.Provide guidance on appropriate class placement based on age and religious education background.
Collaboration and Communication:
Foster positive relationships with parents, volunteers, and clergy to enhance the religious education experience.Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, providing regular updates on programs and events.
Creation of School Calendar:
Develop an annual school calendar that aligns religious education events with liturgical seasons, holidays, and community activities.Coordinate with other departments to integrate religious education activities seamlessly into the overall school schedule.
Supplies Management:
Procure and manage all necessary supplies for religious education programs, ensuring that resources are sufficient and appropriate for each activity.Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with administrative staff to order supplies as needed.
Sacramental Organization:
Coordinate and facilitate the preparation of students for sacraments such as First Communion, Confirmation, and Reconciliation.Collaborate with clergy and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth and meaningful sacramental experiences for participants.Work with the parish staff to ensure sacramental information is received and documented.
Theology of the Body Instruction:
Attend training and implement a comprehensive Theology of the Body curriculum for students in the seventh grade.Provide engaging and insightful teachings on the theological and philosophical aspects of human sexuality and relationships.
Safe Environment Training:
Work with the parish office to ensure that all teachers and staff undergo appropriate Safe Environment training in compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations.Oversee the implementation of safety protocols and procedures within the religious education programs.Report student instruction and test scores to the diocese.
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of Catholic teachings and a commitment to its mission.Previous experience in religious education or a related field is preferred.Good organizational and communication skills.Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into religious education programs.Ability to collaborate effectively with clergy, educators, and parents.This is a part-time position.
