Job SummaryThe Getty Research Institute is seeking a research assistant who will assist the associate director with facilitating research, organizing convenings with GRI stakeholders, and interpretive programming. The ideal candidate will be a graduate student with experience in archival management and preservation with diverse research experience. Field of specialization is open.Major Job ResponsibilitiesConducts research on various topics related to art history, libraries, and collectionsGathers, processes, and presents institutional data on current practices and programs in peer academic institutions, as well as galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAM)Requests images for exhibitions and/or publications; researches and obtains art and image permissionsProofreads and edits, as neededAssists with the creation of reports, project websites, and PowerPoint presentationsMay copyedit and review texts for public dissemination or publicationQualificationsBachelor’s degree in art history or related field; Master’s degree or some graduate work preferred0-2 years research experience (education may be considered)Strong skills in gathering, manipulating, evaluating, and presenting qualitative and quantitative dataKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesBackground in Information Studies, Art History, Digital Humanitieor related disciplineAttention to detailsStrong communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects in a timely mannerAbility to build relationships, partner with others and work on teamsAbility to set and meet deadlines for oneselfProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Apple Airtable, and Google DocsBenefits and PerksHere are just some examples that Getty offers/provides for full-time employees:Medical, Dental and Vision insurance coverage, starting on date of hire.
