Position Summary:

This position enhances the company’s ability to mitigate risks by supporting detailed investigations into fraud and offenses targeting American Express products, services, and systems. The incumbent works closely with business partners, law enforcement, and government agencies on global fraud prevention initiatives and identifying worldwide threats that could impact the company. Additionally, this role provides regional oversight for security operations, developing and implementing physical security programs, and crisis management procedures across multiple facilities. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the safety of personnel, company assets, data, and facilities, and leading the crisis management program to safeguard the company’s interests in the region.

Responsibilities:

Communicate with counterparts outside of own workgroup, to ensure that practices and policies are aligned and consistent

Work with internal groups to help American Express minimize risk and exposure to fraud (e.g., assess risk, identify security weaknesses, close gaps)

Collaborate on fraud investigations with counterparts at other organizations

Work with law enforcement on fraud prevention initiatives (e.g., deliver fraud awareness training)

Develop investigative policies and procedures

Assist with forensic examination of plastic cards, paper documents, and equipment (e.g., computers, hard drives, skimming devices)

Collect intelligence about criminal networks or organized groups that commit financial crimes

Study data to uncover patterns, trends and evidence of inter-related events or crimes

May assist with or oversee internal investigations, including claims of violence in the workplace, sexual harassment, theft, vandalism and injury

Communicate with business leaders about their security-related business needs

Develop and implement security programs and procedures region-wide

Conduct or supervise security audits for facilities

Recommend security equipment and systems for new and existing facilities

Oversee physical security operations (e.g., facility access, security rounds, monitoring and maintaining alarm and surveillance equipment)

Some incumbents are Crisis Response Team members or regional team leaders. CRT leaders oversee regional implementation of the crisis management program. This includes shaping program procedures, monitoring security-related intelligence, assessing potential threats to persons and facilities and assisting personnel in emergency situations.

Some incumbents may communicate and coordinate with local Global Security managers and directors in the development and implementation of region wide security programs and procedures.

Some incumbents provide guidance and support to local Global Security managers and directors on all aspects of the Security Services mission.

Supervise and mentor direct reports

Plan and monitor expenditures within a budget

Required to be on call 24 hours a day

Qualifications:

Previous job experience is required.

Candidates should have 3+ years minimum combined experience in one or more of the following: investigations, data management, security management, crisis management, physical security system design, application development lifecycle, SQL and/or scripting programming, and people leadership.

Professional certification in security management or investigations is a plus.

Bachelor’s or other 4-year degree may be required. Preferred fields of study include business, computer science, criminal justice, and social sciences.

International staff must be able to converse, read, and write in English.

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
