About the role:
As a Software Engineer you could work with bleeding edge technology as you build innovative fintech products that change the way the world pays, banks and invests. This will involve developing core versions of software applications, identifying client requirements and technical specifications, interacting with engineering groups and training clients on applications.
About the team:
The FIS EMEA international card processing system P1C/Base2000 is a powerful and flexible credit card, loan, collections, and merchant processing system. This global solution supports both consumer and commercial credit card products and processes Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Private Label cards and loans. FIS is looking for a Software Engineer to join this team. This role is part of our BAU support team where we make improvements to the product, tools, processes, and documentation to help improve business functionality, system stability, and operational efficiency.
What you will be doing:
You must have proven analytical and problem-solving skills and will work on our credit processing application, P1C/Base2000. You will provide day-to-day BAU support to several clients and projects. You will work closely with clients, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that will drive the analysis and design of functional and technical solutions. The solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies, comply with FIS and group architectural standards, and implemented on time and within budget.
The position requires extensive knowledge of the Base2000/P1C credit card applications; both broad functional knowledge and detailed technical knowledge and experience are required. Responsibilities of the role include designing and developing enhancements for clients, providing Level 2 production support for clients processed in the UK processing center, providing release testing and defect resolution support for six annual releases, supporting the card consolidation projects for clients migrating from Base2000 to P1C, and providing Level 3 support for P1C clients globally.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Utilize mainframe COBOL and JCL to code, test, debug, document, implement, and maintain software and guide others to do so
Analyze business requirements and translate them into functional and technical solutions
Design solutions and provide estimates for complicated system changes
Create detailed specifications from which programs will be changed or written
Write technical solution documents and other forms of documentation
Provide application software development services or technical support for multiple projects
Suggest technical alternatives and improve/streamline processes and systems
Support test and production batch cycles and resolve issues
Resolve production incidents in a timely manner in accordance with agreed SLA timeframes
Provide research and consulting support to BAs and clients regarding system and parameter functionality
Act as a mentor to developers implementing system changes
Review code, JCL, and test results from other developers
What you will need:
Excellent mainframe COBOL, CICS, Assembler, VSAM, DB2, SQL, SPUFI, MVS/JCL, OPC, Endevor, MQ Series, File Manager, TSO/ISPF, SORT, CLIST, REXX, and IBM Utility skills and 10+ years of experience
Excellent problem-solving, team and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
Experience with end-to-end systems development life cycles for software development
Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
SME level knowledge and experience in several sub-systems/components of Base2000/P1C
Added bonus if you have:

Experience with data migrations/conversions
Familiarity with card scheme rules and documentation for Visa, Mastercard, and American Express
Knowledge of financial services industry

The pay range for this full-time position is $123,810.00 - $207,980.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
