The Lowe's Legal Department serves as an innovative, proactive and strategic business partner focused on accelerating profitable growth while protecting the Lowe's brand. The Corporate Counsel provides proactive legal consultation and advice on day-to-day matters and key functional priorities of their business client. This role should have deep understanding of at least one area of law or have mid-level understanding of three or more areas of law or lines of business. The Corporate Counsel handles matters independently and proactively consults with leadership on complex work.
We are seeking a seasoned Corporate Counsel to join our dynamic legal team Lowe’s. This role will focus on privacy and compliance, with specific responsibilities related to product counsel and AI governance. The ideal candidate will provide strategic legal guidance, ensuring that our products and services align with evolving regulatory requirements and best practices in data privacy and compliance.
What you will do
Privacy Compliance: Advise on the development and implementation of privacy policies and practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other regional regulations.
Product Counsel: Collaborate with product development teams to assess privacy risks, recommend best practices, and ensure that new products comply with legal standards from inception to launch.
AI Governance: Provide legal oversight for AI initiatives, ensuring compliance with emerging regulations and ethical standards in AI usage and data handling.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between legal, compliance, product, and technology teams, facilitating communication and collaboration on privacy-related issues
Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs on privacy compliance and best practices for internal stakeholders.
Risk Assessment: Conduct privacy impact assessments and advise on mitigation strategies for potential legal and reputational risks associated with data use.
Regulatory Monitoring: Stay updated on privacy legislation and trends, providing timely advice and updates to senior management and relevant teams.
Serves as the trusted advisor and key point of contact for Director level stakeholders on key functional initiatives and may engage with VPs on more complex issues.
Applies legal and business knowledge to identify legal risks by assessing internal and external trends, including the regulatory environment, and develops mitigation strategies and provides solutions-based advice on key functional priorities of their business client.
Handles matters independently and proactively consults with leadership on complex work.
Delivers practical solutions to clients using their knowledge of business and legal experience to drive business results.
Collaborates and provides input on complex projects impacting the business' functional strategic priorities
Prepares and delivers trainings and memorandums to present to business partners on routine and complex legal matters.
Drafts and executes legal documents and gathers relevant case related information using multiple sources and methods.
Monitors developments, including proposed legislation and court decisions, related to company activities to evaluate their impact upon operations.
Serves as a mentor to lower-level attorneys and staff.
May manage 1-2 support staff
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in privacy law, compliance, and product counsel, preferably in a corporate or tech environment.
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in [state].
1 Year Direct experience with public company legal issues, processes and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of data protection laws and regulations, as well as experience with AI technologies and their legal implications.
Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
