- St. Mary's Church and School; Hagerstown, MDSt. Mary's is a parish of 800 families in Hagerstown, with a Catholic school enrollment of 200 and active Religious Education and RCIA programs. The Parish was established in 1758 and upholds the Church's tradition in teaching and in praxis. The Church was built in 1826 and features a 3-manual Allen Renaissance R-370 digital pipe organ.The Director of Liturgical Music (sometimes referred to as the “Director of Liturgical Services”) is a full-time position, supervised by and working closely with the Pastor, with part-time music teacher responsibilities in the School, reporting to the Principal for School duties. The Director coordinates the liturgical music program for the Parish and School, including serving as principal organist and choir director. The Director is also responsible for coordinating all liturgical ministries and managing the sacristy's inventory.Responsibilities

Responsibilities include oversight of all liturgical events for the Parish and School, especially with regard to liturgical music. These include:Direct accompaniment at three Masses on Sunday, including an Extraordinary Form Mass on Sunday evening, Holy days of obligation, and feasts.Directing an adult choir, children's choir, cantors, and other musicians.Coordinating all liturgical ministers (including training and scheduling).Teaching one and a half school days.Qualifications

Preferred:Practicing Catholic able to participate in the Sacramental life of the Church.Bachelor's degree in music or related field.Three to five years' related work experience.Required:High degree of proficiency in organ.High degree of proficiency in Gregorian chant, or ability to develop such proficiency quickly.Effective choral conducting, capable of directing both amateur and professional musicians, leading a choir in vocal exercises, and providing vocal training.Demonstrable skill as a leader of congregational singing.Familiarity with Ordinary and Extraordinary forms of the Roman Rite.Applicants may view the complete job description at
