Join us as we work to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Platform team.  The Platform services division is primarily responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining the core foundational components that are required by all other development teams within athenahealth to successfully build their products. As a key member of the Platform Experience zone, you will help build services and systems to drive our front-end modernization goals.      Position Summary: As an Engineering manager, you will be responsible for leading 2 scrum teams. You will partner with Product to drive the success and evolution of our product roadmap.       You are passionate about building inclusive and outcome-focused engineering teams. If that sounds like you, and you’re interested in driving a forward-leaning approach to healthcare, we’d love you to join the team.    The Team:   These teams in Platform are a critical part of our athenaOne ecosystem, focusing on front-end experiences, including: athena’s design system, cross cutting UI experiences (patient banner), in app guidance, third party and enterprise user workflow integration, and front-end scalability and consistency. Job Responsibilities Provide managerial oversight of multiple scrum teams to deliver products, considering both individual performance and team goals and ensuring alignment with the overall product line objectives.  Develop your team to grow them as engineers and as people, to make their development positions at athena their “best job ever.”  Maintain technical knowledge of product architecture and provide connective tissue, manage dependencies; ensure delivery of quality releases in partnership with product management and other engineering teams.  Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance within the engineering team.   Develop and implement processes to optimize engineering workflows and efficiency.   Recruit, hire, and onboard top engineering talent.   People and Performance management.   Manage engineering budgets and resources effectively.   Typical Qualifications 6-8 years of experience in an engineering role.  At least 2 years' experience leading or mentoring others in a technical environment. Strong Agile experience and excellent technical knowledge in software development, maintenance and production support including experience with web technologies, cloud computing, databases, and APIs.   Record of success in delivering results, balancing priorities to ensure delivery, demonstrating excellence in leading teams and in liaison to cross-functional stakeholders. Experience in distributed systems, cloud-based architecture and highly available systems. Proficiency in programming languages such as: React, JavaScript/Typescript, Java Spring Boot or other Object-Oriented language (C#, C++). Experience leading teams in an agile environment. Track record of growing your engineers and teams. Collaborative approach to driving best possible results and outcome for the customer. About athenahealthHere’s our vision: To create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.  What’s unique about our locations? From an historic, 19th century arsenal to a converted, landmark power plant, all of athenahealth’s offices were carefully chosen to represent our innovative spirit and promote the most positive and productive work environment for our teams.
