We are looking for a
Linux System Administrator
to join Verisign’s Corporate Operations team responsible for building, managing, maintaining and scaling operational infrastructure on which our mission-critical services are deployed or depend. We prize engineering professionals who are equipped with great technical skills and attitudes that motivate those around them. Responsibilities:
Performs daily operations support functions in a 24x7 environment - including system deployments, patching, installation, configuration, maintenance, problem isolation and resolution within production, QA and development environments; environments include physical servers, virtualization, operating systems, and automation tools
Provide incident response and root cause/mitigation to include security vulnerabilities, performance degradation and system outage analysis
Support all aspects of VMware and Oracle KVM virtualization platforms
Strong scripting experience using Ansible, Python, and Shell to automate for consistency, efficiency and repetitive tasks
Documentation of processes, procedures, configurations, and deployment plans
Participates in team on-call rotation and planned weekend activities

The candidate must have:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
8+ years of operations administration experience managing mission-critical systems
Excellent understanding of Linux configuration and administration
Critical thinker with problem solving aptitude and thrives for implementing process improvements
Experience with automation-Not just developing automation, but knowing why we automate and what to automate
Strong written and verbal communication skills – able to clearly and succinctly describe complex issues
Familiarity with networking protocols, system monitoring and performance tools
This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule
The pay range is $120,500 - $163,100.
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
