Summary of Position
The Principal Data and Analytics Architect will be a pivotal leader within our organization, responsible for driving data strategy, governance, and advanced analytics initiatives to support our upstream operations. This role will oversee a team of data professionals, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure that data-driven insights are integrated into decision-making processes to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and profitability.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of data engineers and analytics engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Develop and execute a comprehensive data architecture strategy aligned with business goals and technological advancements.
Drive innovation by staying current with industry trends and integrating new technologies and methodologies into the data strategy.
Design and implement scalable, high-performance data architectures using Snowflake as the core data warehouse solution.
Develop and manage data models, schemas, and data integration processes to support business intelligence and analytics.
Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
Oversee the deployment and optimization of Microsoft Azure cloud services for data storage, processing, and management.
Utilize Power BI to create and maintain interactive dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure seamless integration and performance of data tools and platforms.
Establish and enforce data governance policies to maintain high data quality and consistency across the organization.
Implement data quality frameworks and practices to monitor and enhance data accuracy and reliability.
Address and resolve data-related issues and provide ongoing support for data management best practices.
Work closely with business leaders, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Communicate complex data concepts and architectural designs effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Manage relationships with external vendors and partners as needed to support data initiatives.
Lead data and analytics projects from conception through execution, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
Manage budgets and resources effectively to achieve project goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related role, with a focus on the upstream oil and gas sector.
Proven experience with Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, and Power BI.
Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, ETL processes, and data integration.
Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of leading cross-functional teams.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Relocation:
Preferential treatment will be granted to candidates residing in the Denver metropolitan area.

Compensation & Benefits
Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the
Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (EPEWA
) and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation.
Compensation:
The annual rate for this position generally ranges between $195,000 - $210,000 with an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, of up to 50% of eligible pay. This role, depending on skill level and experience, may also participate in the Long-Term Incentive Plan with annual awards, vesting over three years, ranging from 8-15% of stated annual target. These ranges are estimates, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs, business performance to metrics, and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
