DIRECTOR OF SALES

Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Arlington, Virginia, United States, 22201

Summary

The Hotel:

Located in the heart of National Landing, Arlington’s most exciting destination with over $12B in Public and Private investments, less than 4 miles from the Washington Monument in DC. Hyatt Regency Crystal City is Arlington’s largest convention hotel with over 70,000 sq. ft. of meeting space including the 23,000 sqft Independence center exhibit hall. Fresh off a brand new meeting space renovation of the Ballroom level, this hotel is ready to host gatherings from 2 people to 2,500. This role is the perfect position to lead a large convention-focused Sales Team and join the regional team of Hyatt Leaders in the highly desirable DC market.

The Director of Sales and Marketing has direct oversight of the Sales and Marketing operation of the hotel. The DOSM has responsibility for the Sales and Marketing budget/P&L, revenue forecasting, writing business plans, ownership meeting presentations, contract review including complex negotiations, and Government Market knowledge.

Marketing is a big focus in this position as the Crystal City neighborhood is developed and rebranded into National Landing. Knowledge of advertising, marketing campaign development, and branding will be critical. Communication and organizational skills are of the utmost importance.

The DOSM at this hotel will be responsible for the supervision of a seasoned team of Sales Managers and administrative staff. They will also be expected to be a leader in the local community, including sitting on board positions and advocating for the local neighborhood as National Landing continues to grow its exposure.

Additional responsibilities include the recruitment and hiring of sales staff, training, managing, and coaching sales managers in their selling process to meet company goals and maximize hotel revenues.

The ideal candidate must be proficient in the transient contractual agreement process, rate negotiations, and the management, retention, and acquisition of new accounts. Arlington is home to Amazon’s second Headquarters and to almost all of the Government Contractors due to the Pentagon and its proximity to Washington DC. The hotel also has a base of crew business which requires complex negotiation.
