The Senior Interior Designer will lead the development and implementation of an interior design program for all hospital areas at

Palo Alto

Healthcare System (VAPAHCS). You will create space plans while specifying materials, furnishings, flooring, lighting, furniture, fixtures, and more. This role requires on-site work at VAPAHCS.

Responsibilities:

Plan and design interior spaces, coordinating all aspects of interior design for new construction, alterations, renovations, and general facility maintenance.

Develop and implement a comprehensive Interior Design Program, providing complete design services for the organization, including satellite facilities.

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for furnishings, window treatments, patient cubicle curtains, wall coverings, flooring, wall art, lighting, ceiling treatments, casework, and other interior design elements from conception to installation.

Create detailed project timelines to ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials and furnishings.

Participate in pre-design meetings to gather essential design criteria and initiate actions to obtain necessary information.

Collaborate with clients to develop space projections that meet overall spatial needs and functionality.

Prepare FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) budgets and purchasing packages as required.

Conduct site visits to assess design implementation and ensure adherence to design standards and specifications.

Review and approve samples and mock-ups for materials and finishes, ensuring alignment with design intent.

Perform additional responsibilities associated with this position as required to support the overall design program.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or a related field.

Minimum of 8 years of interior design experience in a healthcare environment, hospital industry, or as a facility-based interior designer.

Extensive knowledge of design theory, space planning, and project management.

Familiarity with various healthcare environments and furniture lines is essential.

Proficient in computer software such as Autodesk, AutoCAD, Microsoft OneNote, and Microsoft Project.

Strong communication skills in English, both written and oral, with experience in preparing correspondence, reports, and maintaining project records.

Experience in conducting meetings and briefing clients and management personnel.

Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry, including familiarity with OSHA safety requirements on construction projects.

Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits).
