ResponsibilitiesProvide high-level technical editing services to support the production of high-profile analytic products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of clarity, accuracy, and compliance with intelligence community guidelines. This role requires strong expertise in intelligence analysis, senior leadership engagement, and a demonstrated ability to enhance the quality and impact of written communications.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the government in producing and refining analytic products by providing expert guidance on grammar, punctuation, and style, ensuring compliance with relevant style guidelines.
Review and edit multiple analytical products daily, offering clear, actionable recommendations to improve clarity, content, and overall quality under strict deadlines.
Collaborate with various offices to develop and produce high-profile analytic products. Turn draft materials into clearly articulated, polished documents that effectively communicate key issues to senior policy and intelligence officials.
Engage and collaborate with senior government officials at the executive level, facilitating productive discussions across a wide variety of stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and levels of authority.
Provide advice and feedback on products to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and senior leadership expectations.
Mentor and coach government staff to strengthen their technical writing skills, contributing to the impact, value, and clarity of analytic products.
Provide training on best practices in writing, product composition, and adherence to writing standards.
Ensure all edited products conform to style guidelines, relevant standards, and production requirements. Maintain editorial consistency, format, and compliance with government standards across all deliverables.
Qualifications
Requires a BA/BS and 18 years of experience, a master’s degree and 10 years of experience, or no degree with 24 years of experience in technical editing, particularly within the intelligence community.
Must have a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
Senior-level expertise in technical writing and editing, with a deep understanding of intelligence analysis. Proficient in applying intelligence community writing standards and familiar with relevant article production processes.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a proven ability to transform complex information into professional, polished products for senior audiences.
Strong interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with senior leaders and stakeholders, fostering a productive environment for feedback and product improvement.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams in the preparation and quality review of technical documents, and to mentor junior staff in developing their writing and editing skills.
Target Salary Range:
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
